of 15 days to 4 days. By utilizing Lean techniques and focusing on performance

metrics in the Service laboratory. Reduced the cost of quality from 4.6% to 2.5% of

sales by focusing on KPI (Key Performance Indicators) as well as quality objective

metrics and making them visible throughout the organization and utilizing teams to

Kidde Safety of United Technologies Corp – Colorado Springs, CO – 2000 – 2004

Divisional Quality Manager – Spearheaded a Warranty Returns analysis / Product

Development Improvement project for a $300M division of a Dow Jones listed

company which ultimately led the justification of a sustaining engineer who

produced a first cost savings of $350K.Products: Carbon monoxide and smoke

alarms, fire extinguishers, and other fire safety consumer products. Coordinated,

managed & supported all Quality functions that related to our electronics detection

products division. Detection products included smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Kidde utilized 3 different manufacturing locations including our Research &

Development center in Colorado Springs to design & manufacture detection products.

Served as a focal point in our Research & Development department to identify

weaknesses and strengths in new or modified designs and developed Quality Plans

that tested areas of concern in new products. Worked with the Engineering group to

develop design FMEA(s) to identify those areas of concern. This formal design review

process improved the initial pilot run success percentage by 50%. Coordinated all

Quality function activities related to our electronic – detection products division.

This included 3 manufacturing sites while working alongside our Product

Development and Research group. 30 direct reports.

Cinch Connectors, Vinita, OK – 1997 – 2000

Quality Manager & Quality Engineer – Served as the process Quality Engineer for

the Aerospace department then was promoted to Quality Manager. Led plant to a

successful AS9100 implementation / certification in 1999. Developed a Cost of

Quality system which used the typical categories of Prevention, Appraisal, and

Rework, however, factors such as labor productivity, loss of customer satisfaction, and

indirect labor were estimated via a calculation provided in ASQ magazine. As a

result of focus on this report, AS9100 process control techniques, and changes in

supervision methods the company was able to reduce the % of customer returns

during a 2 year period by 25%. 7 direct reports.

Rockwell Automation & Fasco Industries, Gallipolis, OH & Eldon, MO 1991 1997

Tooling Engineer & Quality Engineer Implemented automated SPC data

collection work centers for CTQ areas and served as a customer liaison with key

customers to improve understanding of their needs. Implemented Allen Bradley

automated SPC data collection and measurement systems at key machining centers

and provided training of SPC concepts and process control. This real time SPC

system reduced the aluminum end shell scrap by 15%. Rework was reduced by 50%.

Scrap & rework cost reductions were 100K annually.

Field Service Engineer Traveled to and serviced computers, computer servers, and

printers at various customer sites. Performed electrial, electronic, and mechanical

troubleshooting to isolate the defective sub assembly then repair.
