Qualifications Career Highlights

BSc in Civil Engineering from Have worked in Civil management since1985, when made

the University of Nairobi, mat’l eng. for HP Gauff Consulting Engineers and Nor

Kenya, and an Advanced Consult-AS Consulting Engineers on roads and water

Diploma in Materials projects in Rift Valley Province in Kenya.

Engineering from the I had previously graduated from the University of Nairobi,

University of Massachusetts, Kenya with a BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, and later on

Boston, USA. with an Advanced Diploma in Materials Engineering from

the University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA.

I am a registered Engineer with Engineers Registration

board of Kenya.

I have extensive experience in large scale bulk earthworks,

roads, detailed excavations, water, railways, formwork

management, bridges, mass concrete pours and standard

gauge & metro rails, geothermal &, hydro power industry,

and was civicon team leader- research in Turkana Wind

Mill Project in Kenya in the year 2009, and represented

Civicon in several meetings on the project in Nairobi.

In 1988-1989, i was the construction engineer on Lodwar-

Kakuma, Lokichogio Road Project.

I have worked in the Rail,Highways, Gold mining, Oil and

Hydro- Power Generation industries on everything from

bridges, dams, tunnels, culverts, Water Intake, Canal,

Forebay, Power House and other large structures like

Airfields, fuel storage facilities, Dams, etc. I have worked

both as a contractor and Consultant and have a good

understanding of scheduling and planning for a project. I

am practical, result oriented and capable of working longer

hours without complaint.

I have had over 5 years experience in Oil/Gas exploration

in Uganda, UN fuel storage facilities in DRCongo, UN fuel

deport projects in S/Sudan, Fuel Storage Facilities in

Seychelles and have just completed a 10 month contract

in Central Africa (DRCongo) with GPS, Kibali Gold Mine.

ZORO HYDRO POWER PROJECT, Orientale province-DRCongo

Construction of Water Intake, a 4.5 km canal of12m width and a depth of 6.5 m, Forebay,

a reservoir where water from the canal enters pipe(s) to the power house for power

generation and the Power House.

I was in charge of ZORO HYDRO POWER PROJECT for Kibali Gold Mine.

N/B: Finished project 2 months ahead of schedule.

CIVICONGROUP( UNOPS Road Projects in Southern Sudan)Financed by the world bank.

Feb, 2008- Nov.2011, Projects Engineer/ Projects Manager / Engineer.

Earthworks structural concrete, piling and Drainage on $290 Million Road projects in

Southern Sudan and a $125 million UN (MONUSCO) Fuel Storage Facilities for UN peace

keeping soldiers in DRCongo, this was in DRC 9 cities namely, Bunia, Beni, Goma,

Bukavu, Kavumu, Uvira, Kalemie, Mahagi and Lumbumbashi.. Road Projects in Southern

Sudan were:- Maridi-Madebe(125km), Yambio-Dabio (85km),Juba-Bor(40km),Dabio-

Izo(20km),Ibba Air field,Olkaria Geothermal,Turkana Wind Mill Project Research, and the

construction of first bitumen sealed highway from Juba(capital) to Nimule(Uganda border),

192km. Supervision of all bridges(8no.), pavement works, sealing, earthworks, etc.

N/B: Finished all the projects on time and on budget. (Project was 3 months behind schedule when

called in to join civicon). Rewarded by top management for a well done job.

Associated Construction Company, (Kenya) Financed by the government of Kenya.

Feb, 2002- Nov, 2007, Position: Projects Manager / Engineer.

Masalani Suspension Bridge(180m) – Earthworks, structural concrete, piling, road

works plus 16km approach roads and protection works. Scope of work:- Major

earthworks with fill of 3m to act as dyke for 12km.Boring and concreting of 86 no.

Abutment and Pier Piles by percussion method, erection of the suspension bridge and

other protective measures.

Kenya Shell Railway Siding up-grade(1460m) in Shell, Mombasa Terminal and Sea

Walls in Lamu and Pate Islands in the Republic of Kenya.

Jan 2000- Jan 2001, Position: Chief Materials Engineer/ QA/QC

Projects: Elnino Projects-zone 5( Financed by the ADB & WORLD BANK)

Zone 5 dealt with, Water, Roads & Bridges and Health facilities in Rift Valley and

Western Provinces in the Republic of Kenya, in such districts as Baringo, Keiyo,

Marakwet, Bungoma, Teso and Mt. Elgon.

I was co-ordinating all the established laboratories in the 47 projects in zone-5, and

providing support to all the 17 Resident Engineers relating to quality control and

ensuring supervision of works using the established laboratories.

Project: Kabartonjo- Kipsereman Road, and Garsen- Lamu Road. ( Financed by JICA & ADB.

I co-ordinated all the 2no. established laboratories in the 2 projects and provided support to the 2 no.

Resident Engineers relating to quality control and ensuring supervision of works using the established

laboratories. I also coordinated materials laboratory for Idsowe Bridge(123m in Garsen.

April,1988- Dec.1989, Position: Construction Manager/ Engineer

Project: Lodwar- Kakuma- Lokichogio Road-( Financed by EU), and Kakuma bridge(85m)

I was in charge of the first bitumen sealed highway in the Northern part of Kenya from Lodwar to the city of

Lokichogio covering a distance of 220km. This was supervision of all earthworks, culverts, Bridges (2),

pavement works sealing, and other protective measures.

N/B: Finished the project on time and on budget.

HP Gauff KG Consulting Engineers- (Kenya) Financed by the government of Kenya.

Sept.1985- Feb. 1988, Position: Materials Engineer/ QAQC.

Projects: Marigat-Kabarnet Road(40km), Kabanet- Kabatonjo Road (26km), Kabarnet- Tenges Road

(20km), Kapkong Water Supply phases 1-3, Kabarnet Air field(to asphalt standard),and Chemeron

Gourge Dam.
