Projects - 22 Years
• Team leader and directing manager for Global Engineering group of six to nine project engineers
and managers with the responsibility for preparing feasibility studies, funding requests, design,
construction, interface with plant operations management, project startup, commissioning and turnover of
program of major laboratory, animal and office facilities for the Merck Research and Technical Operations
Divisions of the Company at multiple domestic plant locations.
• Annual project workload under my direct responsibility ranged from $58 million to $200 million of
capital for turnkey renovations and new research facility design and construction projects.
• Implemented the use of global suppliers of professional services and equipment, lab planning
modules, office standards, reducing overall capital project costs. Led site master plan for the Rahway, NJ
site for 8 years
• Project Director for 140,000 GSF Research and Biologics Pilot, and 125,000 GSF of Biologics
Laboratory renovations totaling $194,000,000 and for a state of the art animal research facility, 200,000
GSF and $112,500,000.
• All projects were completed on/under budget and ahead of schedule. As team leader, reported
quarterly on project status to CFO and Corporate Capital Management Committee.
• Managed extensive network of outsourced design, construction management, and equipment
suppliers. Developed project scopes, bid professional services, managed construction process from
schedules, estimating, change orders, construction quality and commissioning. negotiating with sub
contractors, through project closure.
• Projects of merit include a 100,000 GSF call center and distribution pharmacy in Irving, Texas for
Company subsidiary, Medco Health Solutions completed in three months on a flash track schedule.
• Interfaced with cross-functional Corporate groups in the execution of the projects including project
sponsors, project users, Corporate Safety & Environmental, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, Sales,
Real Estate, Tax, IT, as well as municipal governments, planning boards, building departments of towns
projects where projects were executed.

• Responsible for the design, construction and startup and turnover of leasehold improvement
facilities for Company at its two Woodbridge and Somerset, NJ office facilities.
• Assisted the Corporate Real Estate group in negotiating leasehold improvement work letters, as
well as site location feasibility studies.
• Successfully managed leasehold improvement projects to be funded, designed, constructed and
occupied in periods of six month intervals, project size in the 75 - 110,000 GSF magnitude.
• Constructed first corporate company owned training facility of 50,000 GSF in Woodbridge, NJ.
Total square footage of office space constructed was over 800,000 GSF.
• Supervised staff of six project managers on these projects.
• Developed corporate standards for offices, including executive, managerial and professional
