Client Humana Inc. is one of the largest Insurance companies in
Description USA. Humana is a leading provider of Health Insurance
plans at affordable rates to companies, government
sponsored plans and individuals.
Project 1 CIS - Contract Information System
From Jul ' 08 To Till Date
Humana depends on Ingenix to get the rates/price on
certain specific situation. Ingenix sends rates files to
Humana, which is installed in different servers, and run
it through a tool called Rate Manager to get the correct
rate. After verification the rates are made available in
production environment for users. Ingenix rates are
maintained by CIS application.
The core function of CIS is Pricing. CIS gets Claims
information from MTV and CAS. Run these claims thru the
CIS. CIS compares these claims against the provider
contracts and determine the correct pricing which is sent
back to MTV and CAS. Claim Analysts or Negotiators
communicate with the providers and get from them the
negotiated Price and based on this Price, CIS builds a
contract. The contract information is keyed into CIS
through the front end screens.

The project was to handle EHI module ADMIN and CLAIMS.
ADMIN was to do administrative support for commercial
group starting from enrollment till billing. CLAIM module
was designed to handle member claim request such as
medical, dental, etc. Solar team deals with agent/agency
contracting, licensing. Solar maintains all the Health
Insurance Plans sold by agents and the premiums received
on them. Solar has a daily process to calculate
commissions and bi-monthly process that calculates
commission and issues cheques for agents/agencies. Solar
team is also involved in calculating monthly, quarterly &
semi-annual bonuses and issuing cheques.
Role and Programmer analyst
Responsibilitie As far as technical perspective is concern all the IT
s maintenance activities for this module was supported.
Enhancement activities and development was also handled.
So maintenance, enhancements and production support
altogether managed.
