PROFILE
A change in career in 2010 has led me to be a highly motivated Deputy
Manager of a children's home, offering patience and encouragement as well
as great organisation skills.
My main strengths are dependability, working well under pressure, a
positive attitude, I easily make good working relationships, as well as
being attentive to peoples needs.
I enjoy working as a Support Worker, recognising the potential for each
individual child and Young person, as well as overcoming the various

The aim of my job is to care for children's needs, both emotional and
physical. This is done by providing a safe and stable environment for them
in which they can express themselves. I offer guidance and support,
allowing them to trust I will be there in any kind of difficult
circumstance.
I make sure personal care needs are met and each child is supported in
learning to live independently, whilst showing respect for their own
individual needs.
I help to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere to children who are
disaffected with a sense of belonging and self-worth. My duties include:

. Keeping abreast of all new legislation and regulations relating to
health and Safety, C.O.S.H.H, fire prevention and responsible
authority mandates and to ensure effective communication of the same
to staff. To amend policies and procedures and produce new documents,
when needed.

. Carry out monthly Quality Assurance recording.

. Run the home and make managerial decisions, in the absence of the
registered manager.
. Be on 24 hour call, should any issues arise.

The Roaches provides for children with significant social, emotional and
behavioural difficulties for ages 12-16. As well as residential, it is a
school site that helps to combine the stabilising of young persons
emotional and behavioural difficulties, fully meeting their educational
needs.
My role included;
. Organising daily activities for the children to take part in, noting
their preferences and getting them involved with activity ideas.
. Carrying out weekly key working sessions offering one to one support.

. Listening to individual needs to assess how I can help them.

At Vodafone I started off as a Sales Advisor, talking to customers who were
looking to upgrade their mobile phone contract. My job was to provide them
with a mobile phone and tariff that best suited their needs and wishes.
After a few months I was promoted to Customer Saves where my job was to
talk to customers who wanted to leave Vodafone and persuade them to stay.
My role included;

I was employed as an apprentice Sign-writer after leaving school at Beta
Grafix ltd. Here I was trained in all aspects of Sign-writing and vehicle
livery, I also completed a City & Guilds Sign-writing course at Stoke-on-
Trent college. After I completed my Apprenticeship I continued to work at
Beta Grafix ltd as a full time Sign-writer and was employed there for over
ten years before leaving. After a short while I was asked to return as
Production manager.
