EXPERIENCE
ROBRADY DESIGN Sarasota, FL June 2013 – Dec 2013 Contract
Mechanical Designer: Utilized Pro/Engineer Creo Parametric 2.0 for design and development of the
new Vectrix electric scooter. Design involved taking the industrial design surface files and creating
3D parametric solid models of the outer skins and all the joint interfaces of each panel with all the
mounting features to attach to the frame of the Vectrix scooter. The job also involved prototyping of
all panels for verification of the fit and assembly to the frame.
MAKO SURGICAL CORP. Fort Lauderdale, FL June 2007 – Feb 2013
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer: Managed the collaboration design with Farm Inc. to introduce a
proprietary, interactive robotic system for surgeons treating people with early to mid-stage
osteoarthritis of the knee. Helped create an ergonomic design solution that allows surgeons
complete freedom of movement of the robotic arm, providing seamless interaction and manipulation
during replacement procedures while also accommodating the size variations of users and patients.
Responsibilities included: design and resurfacing in SolidWorks 2013 for all exterior parts of the RIO
and various different end effectors cutting systems, designs for partial knee, total knee, hip and other
procedures.
CISCO COMPANY Atlanta, GA Mar 2006 – June 2007 Contract
Mechanical Designer: Design consumer home systems including HD, DVR, SD cable boxes and
cable modems. Design involved heavy sheet metal, plastic, electronic packaging and component
layout all utilizing Pro/ENGINEER WILDFIRE 3.0.
CardioMEMS, Inc. Atlanta, GA Jan 2004 – Dec 2005 Contract
Design Consultant of Product Development: Utilized SolidWorks for designer of a RF handheld
clinical monitor for tracking wireless vascular implants. Designed conceptual and final product,
formed in plastic housing. Designed and packaged computer system to withstand daily clinical use.
Novoste Inc. Norcross, GA Dec 1998 – Nov 2003
Staff Designer of Product Development & Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks Administrator: Lead designer
of a handheld, fluid powered transfer device that transports beta radiation source trains through a
catheter for vascular brachytherapy procedures. Design included complex 3D sculpted surface of
outer housing, and rechargeable battery pack. Device included a locking mechanical mechanism to
safely interlock the radiation cartridges with the catheter and a directional lever.
SPECTRX Norcross, GA Feb 1995 – Oct 1998
Electrical/Mechanical Packaging SR Designer & Pro/ENGINEER Administrator: Designed a non-
invasive diabetes screening analyzer and a non-invasive bilirubin analyzer device. Design included
custom plastic piece, part of complex 3D sculpted surface geometry. The unit also included a
stamped sheet metal chassis and bracketing for structural integrity to support X, Y, Z, stages and
precision mechanical mechanism design to support optical mounting interfaces as well as a custom
foam facial support with an adjustable chin rest. For the bilirubin analyzer layout and design of
custom LCD display module attached, custom elastomeric keypad with mylar domes for tactile feel,
flex circuits and IRDA interface to peripheral devices. Also designed the injection molded plastic
housing using DFMA techniques/snap fits for ease of assembly and to minimize fasteners.
EMS TECHNOLOGIES, INC., Norcross, GA Dec 1994 – May 1995 Contract
Electrical/Mechanical Packaging Designer: Utilized SolidEdge modeling system and ANSI -Y14.5
dimensioning standards for design and detail of electrical/mechanical Microwave Satellite
Technology. Design drafted complex electrical/mechanical packaging enclosure’s, satellite
microwave antennas, and machined part assemblies.
MILES Diagnostics, (BAYER Diagnostics) Tarrytown, NY Oct 1994 – Dec 1994 Contract
Electrical/Mechanical Packaging Designer: Developed a drafting standard of on-screen menus for
MicroStation Modeler & Solidedge that controls level structure, text and dimension height and line
symbology per scale of drawing formats for working in U.S. standard or metric units. Utilized CAD for
drafting fully automated blood chemistry analyzer used in hospitals and commercial laboratories.
Linvatec, (Subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company), Largo, FL Feb 1993 – Oct 1994 Contract
Electrical/Mechanical Packaging Designer: Utilized EMS 2.2 3D solid modeling system and ANSI -
Y14.5 for design and detail of mechanical-surgical equipment such as irrigation and drive console
with disposable cassette loaded irrigation fluid pump set, foot switch, autoclave able remote for
arthroscopic, hydrodissection and endoscopy surgery.
