I have worked as a Healthcare Assistant for several years, mainly within the Sexual
Health Service. During this time I have gained extensive knowledge whilst acquiring a
w ide range of skills and experience and as a result of this was promoted from a Band 2
to a Band 3 in 2012.
Work Experience
City of Coventry Health Centre. In tegrated Sexual Health Services. 2009-2013
• Team Leader and management of Band 2 HCA’s – Appraisals, off duty rostering,
sickness monitoring.
• To chaperone and assist the clinicians during intimate examinations and
p rocedures.
• To check and provide the correct stock for the clinics.
• To work unsupervised on the H IV clinic, obtaining multiple blood samples and
monitoring patient’s observations.
• Urinalysis and pregnancy tests.
• To process samples and specimens.
• Routine phlebotomy procedures.
• To access and input patient information.
• To ensure that the clinical areas are kept clean and t idy at all t imes.
• To perform Fast Track Screening on asymptomatic patients.
• To input results on to the computer and correspond with patients regarding the
details of their results.
