As a surveyor for the Mark Group my job was to locate properties and potential customers who did not
receive their funding from the government regarding their loft and cavity wall insulation. The
Government had given a grant where people could get there loft and cavity wall insulation done for free
because of the increase of the gas and electric prices last year. The cost of the insulations combined for
both wall and cavity costs £1200 but our job was to find people in certain areas where they would be
entitled to get it done for free and other high class areas where people would have be on certain benefits
to actually qualify for the funding..
Knight Recruitment Oct 2013-Nov 2013
As a traffic surveyor my job involved working alongside the police to carry out a general census for the
Leicester city county council. The police officers would stop random vehicles and direct them to the side
of the road. I had to ask them a series of questions which was on the document that we had been given,
questions such as’ where they are coming from?’ and’ where they are headed too?’. I needed to get as
much information as I possibly could such as postcodes, addresses and times. I had to have a lot of
patience because sometimes the traffic would be so immense that drivers would be absolutely irate and
frustrated because the census points were the cause of the traffic building up. I had to have alot patience
as well as good communication skills to put the public at ease and to handle the situation as best as I
could.
Interests and skills
Communication - Through my previous jobs I have gained a lot of self confidence and improved by
being able to interact with customers and working in a team with people from all walks of life.
Languages - I speak the following languages fluently English, Guajarati and Hindi
I enjoy being active therefore I like to participate in various sports such as basketball and football with
friends, I also like to travel to London because there are always events taking place such as the Mela
which is like a carnival where different cultures come together and enjoy the music, food and games with
family and friends.
