EDUCATION
Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY
PhD in Population Health and Clinical Outcomes Research: Department of
Preventive Medicine, School of Medicine. Dissertation Topic: Analysis of
Timing Effects of Pars Plana Vitrectomy for Removal of Intravitreal
Crystalline Retained Lens Fragments after Surgery for Age-Related
Cataracts. Advisor: Dr. John Rizzo. Coursework also included cost-benefit
analysis, pharmacology, simulation/modeling, and biomarkers. As part of my
PhD work, I performed an analysis of the proposed risk-adjustment
methodology for the Medicare Inpatient Hospital Readmissions Reduction
Program and how this might affect Stony Brook University Medical Center's
(SBUMC) reimbursement. In addition, I worked with several national
databases including the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS)
and the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES). I am
an excellent computer programmer and have programmed in C++, FORTRAN, and
assembler language.
