Career History

Cranetech Construction Solutions – Site Manager (September 2009 to Present)

As a Specialist Subcontractor we are responsible for installing loading platforms and pre-finished bathroom pods to

commercial, residential and leisure sectors within the Industry. Our works are predominately within London and

surrounding areas and often too stringent programme and logistical restraints. As Site Manager my main responsibilities

are –

• Coordination with Main Contractor regarding programme and sequence

• Ensure all installed pods and platforms are lined and levelled for final coordination with finishing trades

• Off-loading from numerous methods of transportation, often with different nationalities and language

• Coordination with banksmen / crane to ensure equipment is installed safely in a time efficient manner

• Overcoming difficulties such as incorrect structure prior to our trade and sequential work afterwards

• Quality control and sign-off of all pre-finished pods

Hydrex Material Handling Ltd - Engineering Assessor (November 2007 August 2009)

Working for the Compliance Department, assessing Rail Service Engineers nationally to gain competency to work on

Plant and Equipment for the railway standards. In addition to this main responsibility, my other duties include but not

limited to the following -

•Inspection of new plant prior to delivery to Hydrex

•Pre-audit checks

•Monitor and review of maintenance records to our twelve national depots

•Investigation into plant failures and defects, including all necessary remedial advice

•Weekly coordination meetings

•Update of engineer training and development

•Investigation into depot facilities and requirements (e.g. spares and labour)

•Health and Safety regulations and requirements

•Assisting with interim and annual reports

BCL Rail Ltd (Ardmore Group) - National Service Manager / Assessor (March 2005 to November 2007)

Working for the Rail Department for Ardmore Construction as National Service Manager. I was responsible for running

eight depots across the country ensuring all necessary plant and equipment was strictly maintained, monitored and

procured in sufficient time to meet demands and requirements of rail industry. Other duties consisted of the following -

•Record keeping at all depots

•Fitter cover for shifts on the railway

•Maintenance and service schedules

•Ordering of parts and equipment

•Assessment of rail engineers

•Computer and database updating

•Depot health and safety inspections

•Training and development of Rail Engineers

Taywood Plant Ltd (Taylor Woodrow Group) - Plant Depot Manager (July 1973 to March 2005)

Having been with Taywood Plant Ltd since an apprentice, I quickly progressed through positions such as Chargehand

fitter, Workshop Foreman and finally becoming Plant Depot Manager. This role consisted of complete management and

supervision of 35 staff including plant fitters, maintenance fitters, degreasers, labourers and apprentices and reporting

to the group Commercial Director. Other duties and requirements consisted of the following -

•Develop, implement, monitor and record maintenance schedules for plant machinery

•Ordering and storing of equipment

•Health and Safety regulations and requirements

•Monitor and summarising clock cards, job cards and timesheets

•Attending weekly and monthly progress meetings

•Experience with all forms of plant from minor equipment such as cement mixers to the largest form tower cranes

and passenger hoists.

•Repair and maintenance of CAT 777 Dump Trucks for Mining Division

•Instrumental in obtaining Quality Assurance Certificate

In addition to the above I also lectured at Brinsbury College one day a week in 2000 / 2001, this consisted of instructing

students on NVQ Level 2 - Construction Plant Maintenance Programme. This position was very rewarding and gave me

great pleasure watching students’ progress, develop and learn under my guidance.
