Juveniles who were served at this residential treatment facility were in
the following Level II criteria: aged 13 to 17, in the legal custody of
the state, current DSM-IV diagnosis, IQ of 70 or higher, history of
challenging behaviors and unable to maintain in the community, and present
problems in more than one life domain. The Teacher/Counselor taught teens
conflict resolution and anger management techniques through group
processing and one-on-one counseling to benefit from immediate feedback
among peers on negative behaviors and how to express anger more
appropriately. Provided a structured environment and supervised teens to
create weekly schedules for group activities. Assisted teachers with lesson
plans and monitored teen's behavior during classroom assignments while
teens earned public school credits or prepared for GED testing. Supervised,
planned, and evaluated teens' off-campus activities, special trips, and
home visits.

This position was responsible for the overall management and programmatic
development of the agency's professional direct service programs offered at
a homeless shelter with an emphasis on case management supervision
including treatment planning, service delivery, client intakes,
assessments, and determining appropriate placement into programs.
Monitoring of client treatment plans by coordinating weekly case management
meetings to assess progress or obstacles of clients. This position worked
closely with the Executive Director to enhance programmatic development and
co-chair monthly house meetings with clients to discuss changes in rules
concerning programming and response to feedback from clients. Coordinated
with the Evening Supervisor to communicate program staff expectations and
performance concerning on the job conduct and responsibilities. This
position required administrative, management, and supervisory authority and

Provided services at a non-profit center that was designed in mind as a
meeting place for the homeless population with mental health and substance
abuse issues to receive free medical care, social services, skills
assistance, and develop self-advocacy groups as well as a safe place to
stay during the day. Duties included: scheduling and development of
programming on many topics surrounding mental illness and substance abuse
including discussion and advocacy groups, skills and peer groups, guest
speakers on mental health awareness, supervision of program assistants,
