Personal Profile

In the last years, I have been studying a Degree on Interior Design and working in several jobs. Now

I am a graduate and after one year living and working in UK, I would like to have new experiences

and explore new learning areas.

I work well in a team and I am also able to work on my own initiative when required. I am

committed to continuous professional development and I try to keep up to date regarding teaching

and learning. I am flexible and I adapt myself to different environments. I get on well with people

from different backgrounds with equality of opportunities.

I am very passionate about everything I do, specially my job. I am organized and always use my

time efficiently. I have a full driving licence.

Key Skills

I am a fully qualified teacher. I was awarded this certificate, equivalent to QTS, by

-

University of Murcia (Spain). After obtaining my teaching qualification, I worked in a local

high school as an Arts and Design teacher. This experience allowed me to understand the

different needs of pupils. As a consequence I was using a variety of ICT tools like

computers, overhead projector, and online resources on the internet.

Moreover, I have a BA in Fine Arts and a Degree on Interior and Graphic Design. As part of

-

these studies, I got experience in areas such as Digital Photography, Drawing and Painting.

I have an excellent knowledge in various design software: AutoCAD, 3DMax, Google Sketch

-

Up and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point) and

Internet Explorer.

When I worked at Martin Lejárraga Firm of Architecture, I got experience in project

-

management and logistical coordination, coordinating teams, so I think I would be able to

organise and prioritise in a group. Additionally I got a high capacity for problem solving

and the ability to manage well and remain calm under pressure.

Hobbies and Interests

After completing my two degrees, I attended several courses in the International University

Menendez Pelayo in Santander (Spain). In those modules I was taught to approach Design, Painting

and Drawing in an interdisciplinary way by teachers who were well known, prominent specialists

in the field (see Appendix 1 for courses studied).

Following from my artistic formation with them, part of my work during that time was selected for

several exhibitions(see Appendix 2), and my final project was awarded 'best project' in my category

by the website 'Murcia visual' ( see http://www.murciavisual.net/?p=8617).

At the moment I am a volunteer teaching Spanish and tutoring three children whose parents come

from a mixed linguistic background (English and Spanish). I am here in the UK in order to improve

my language skills as well as growing and developing both personally and professionally.

Therefore, for the last six months I have been volunteering at the Star & Shadow Cinema,

participating in the Conversation Group and, more importantly, designing numerous posters for

some of the cinema’s film seasons (Including 'Samurai! The code According to Kurosawa,' 'Summer

Film Season: Grunge is not dead,' and 'Far from Vietnam’ For more information see:

http://silviamenve.blogspot.co.uk/ I feel as I have gained some experience through my involvement

in this project keeping my skills up to date and getting to know people working in my field of

expertise. I believe I am now ready to be part of a team in which English is the working language. In

fact I am attending ESOL classes in Westgate College studying English level 2.

Also I have some experience as a volunteer designing some educational posters for 'applications for

Language learning' for the Language department at Ponteland High School. Likewise I have helped

University of Sunderland Lecturer Mr. Miguel Gomes with the Audiovisual resources for one of his

courses in which he was using the presentation software 'Prezi'( ' An introduction to the

ythological sources for Tolkien's Middle Earth.' See website:

http://explore.sunderland.ac.uk/presentationdetail.aspx?presid=1116)
