Council for Educational Travel USA (CETUSA) is a non-profit, cultural exchange organization
and is the designated sponsor of the J-1 visa Trainee and Intern program categories. The U.S.
State Department has designed these programs to help college students and young
professionals from other countries to gain practical work/training experiences in the U.S. while
exploring American culture and daily life.
Being a designated sponsor enables CETUSA to provide the legal documents for eligible
program candidates to apply for the necessary J-1 visa. Their J-1 visa allows participants to
undertake training or an internship and receive a wage, salary, or stipend for a period of up to
12 - 18 months. Program participants are able to obtain social security numbers.
