Work Experience
Chemical Process and Improvement Engineer
2011 - 2013 North Andover,
MA
• Participated in the overall management of a 100+ person metalorganics manufacturing facility
generating in excess of $50 M annually in revenues. Multi-function team consists of engineers, supervisors, chemical
operators, research scientists, technicians, and administrative support staff.
• Developed training packages and provided training for operators, engineers and supervisors on new
equipment and processes. Results of training were documented and reported to management.
• Developed numerous SOP’s, COP’s, emergency operating procedures, critical spare parts lists, and
batch records pertaining to processes across the breadth of the manufacturing facility.
• Successfully designed, implemented and operated the production launch of a new material used for
reactor doping to the company’s strategic objectives including design, project scale-up, technology transfer and
personnel training, and EH&S process improvements. Results of scale-up included $26k per batch yield increase.
• Proposed and executed numerous simultaneous improvement projects pertaining to existing processes
and technologies. Projects ranged from $5k to $75k and included many scale-ups of magnitude 5 to 9 times. All
improvement projects improved EH&S concerns, involved retraining operations personnel, required statistical
analysis of quality data, and demanded formal reports of results to production management personnel.
• Successfully identified and conducted process yield analysis, cycle time and walk step analysis by
applying problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma methodology. Designed and implemented multiple 5S
workspace projects reducing cycle time, improving EH&S standards, and elevating workspace efficiency.
Dow Advanced Materials – Summer Intern
May 2011 – August 2011 North Andover, MA
Assistant Process and Improvement Engineer
• Assisted in directing chemical operators in the manufacture of metalorganics and semiconductor
precursors including process technical support, process troubleshooting, training, motivation, and cGMP,
Environmental, Safety and Health compliance on a rotating shift schedule.
• Effectively supported aggressive production schedules while optimizing procedures, minimizing down
time, yield losses and process delays for multiple processes operating simultaneously.
• Developed an excellent knowledge and understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices
Safety, and Environmental Compliance Policies
• Operated and optimized manual metalorganic processes. Developed SOP’s for existing processes and
integrated current EH&S standards
• Assisted in Project Management activities such as cost tracking and forecasting, scheduling and
contractor labor & material tracking. Gained a strong background in construction, project management and contractor
relations.
September 2011 – Present Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory UNH, NH
Nanomaterials, Fuel Cells, and Surface Catalysts Laboratory
• Assisted in research activities including data collection, analysis and presentation of research material
in URC conferences. Proposed multiple improvements in processes in both laboratories.
• Responsible for laboratory safety, equipment maintenance, SOP writing, and chemical/ supply
inventory.
