PROJECT DETAILS:
TITLE: “AUTOMATIC LOAD SHEDDING USING REAL TIME SCADA SYSTEM”
With large increase in load which causes the frequency to decrease beyond the limits set
by the generator frequency regulator it necessary to shed the load. Also when the power system
operates with reduced frequency the cost of transmission also increases according to availability
based tariff. In existing load shedding techniques everything is carried auto manually by visual
observation of various power system parameters in the SCADA, directing the person in the
substation to shed and restore the load. It consumes much time for load shedding process and
there may be possibility of shedding down the same feeder again and again. To achieve the fast
reliability in load shedding it necessary to go for AUTOMATIC LOAD SHEDDING USING
REAL TIME SCADA SYSTEM. In order to implement automatic load shedding, we need
SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), so in general our project is nothing but
application of SCADA. A SCADA system is one which facilitates an operator to control a remote
system and acquire real time information from a remote location.
Automatic Load Shedding done by Priority Wise On The Basis Of tariff or On The Basis Of
Locations(like industrial areas, domestic purpose,villages) . Here load shedding can be done
Based on parameters like frequency and time. By implementing this project throughout the state,
it’s possible to achieve fair distribution of power supply among a particular type of consumers,
like domestic, commercial, industrial etc...We know that power demand is more compared to
power generation due to lack of power generating resources. Hence demand side management is
more effective factor and this can be achieved by “AUTOMATIC LOAD SHEDDING USING
REAL TIME SCADA SYSTEM”. We are done project in KPTCL Mysore.
