Infection Control Practitioner - Nexus Specialty Hospital System & Select Specialty Hospitals – Worked
with facility leadership committee and laboratory services on hospital policies to further protect the health
of staff, patients, and visitors. Educated staff on policies and ways to help protect themselves from
acquiring and spreading infectious diseases (i.e. influenza, multi-drug resistant organisms). Worked with
vendors to reduce overall numbers of infections and establish antibiotic stewardship programs with staff
physician boards to advise on best practices to reduce the number of multi-drug resistant micro-
organisms. Participated and lead an Infection Control Committee to provide hospital administration with
monthly data and establishment of goals and implemented successful hand hygiene programs,
• Participated in Joint Commission (JCAHO) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV/NIAHO) surveys
leading to a successful site accreditations with both hospital systems and satellite clinics .
• Initiated and oversaw the Antibiotic Stewardship programs for both health systems while
collaboratively working with pharmacists and Infectious Diseases physician to improve the use of
antibiotics in order to prevent this rise of resistance and successfully decreased the use of broad
spectrum antibiotics.
• Worked with a multidisciplinary team to initiate a nurse driven foley removal protocol to decrease
foley days and catheter associated urinary tract infections (NHSN-CAUTI reportables).
