DVD / drama that addresses behaviour change as a major step in controlling H IV / A IDS

epidemic in Swaziland. The project was carried by the students of Good Shepherd College

of Nursing with support from philantropic individuals and organizations.(I directed the

H I V AND AIDS TREATMENT AND CARE DUT I ES

Swaziland being a country with highest prevalence H IV and AIDS in the world, it

becomes imperative for all health care provider to be highly knowledgeable in providing

h igh quality care in the aspect of H IV and AIDS care and t reatment. In view of these, I

was t rained and I attained high level of competence in providing this care at acute care

and community level. I currently engage in capacity building of student nurses as a

n urse educator, preparing them at pre-service level in order to make them fi t and eligible

to carry out the task of mit igating the impact of H IV and AIDS in Swaziland and

COLLABORAT ION AND ACTIV I T I ES WIT H DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS

ICAP : In 2010, The In ternational Centre for AIDS Care Treatment and Support

P rogramme (ICAP) provided support to Good Shepherd College of Nursing, Swaziland as

part of health system strengthening initiative of the Government of Swaziland with focus

on HTC, PMTCT, HAART init iation and pediat ric AIDS management. I currently

f unctions as College representative that provides ongoing support to ICAP expert in the

a reas of Clinical skills database building pilot programme in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

I a lso provided technical support to the ICAP/PEPFAR funded Swaziland national

n ursing preceptorship program from curriculum development level to implementation

stage.

J P HE IGO : Acted as linkage and support personnel between JPHEIGO and Good

Shepherd College of nursing in providing skilled manpower for the mass clinical male

circumcision campaign in the K ingdom of Swaziland in 2009 in a bid to reduce the

i ncidence of H IV and AIDS in the count ry.

CDC/MO H COAG : The Centre for Disease Control Provided technical assistance to the

College in 2011 in the area of computer laboratory for enhanced nursing education by

l iaising with the Centre for Disease Control Cooperative Agreement (CDC Co Ag) with

M inistry of health Swaziland and providing appropriate feedback.

WHO : The World Health Organization’s technical support for the health system

strengthening in the kingdom of Swaziland assisted Good Shepherd College of nursing

w ith funding to capacitate the faculty members with curriculum development skills. I

took part in the initiative to develop the general nursing curriculum with focused mostly

of the country’s greatest public health challenge- H IV and AIDS

WORLD BANK : Wrote proposal for and recieved funding from World bank for the

p rovision of four vehicles for community health practicum with emphasis of H IV &A IDS

and TB control in Lubombo region of the Kingdom of Swaziland.

SILENT N IG H T PROJECT : In 2010, I directed the “silent night project” an H IV and

A IDS behaviour change education movie in The Kingdom of Swaziland. I sought for

f unding for the project and the DVD is distributed free in schools and public places.
