Operations Manager

Oversee the move of the Lincolnshire, IL. Operation to our

Booneville, MS. Facility.

Part of move team that created facility lay out.

Moved 8 production lines from Lincolnshire, IL. to

Booneville, MS.

Hire 152 employees both Direct and Indirect for 3 shift

operation.

Hired – Production Supervisors, Material team, Q.C. team and

office staff.

Created and implemented training program for production

workforce.

Helped set up Inventory control and warehouse procedures.

Directed quality supervisor to implement Q.C. process, floor

standards, in coming RM inspection and testing equipment.

Plant Manager – 2003 to 2005/2006

Manage 140 total employees in a 3 shift operation for the

production of 3 ring vinyl binders.

Responsible for financials of the operation and annual budget

planning.

Increased customer base – helped bring two new customers to

the business increasing annual units by 8 million parts.

Implemented an average $600k in cost savings through

material management, labor reduction, cross training and scrap

reduction.

Increased favorable variance at an average of $300k a year.

Implemented our custom quoting process and custom line of

products.

2000 2003 General Binding Corporation Amelia, VA.

Plant Manager – 2000 to 2003

Managed 120 total employees in a 3 shift operation for the

manufacturing of office products.

Increased safety performance, increased production throughput

with the introduction of automation and process control,

decreased customer returns and internal scrap and significantly

lowered inventory through JIT.

1989 – 2000 Valspar Corporation Kankakee, IL.

Quality Control Technician – 1989 to 1992

Responsible for making specification adjustments to paint and

chemical products to meet customer standards.

I was the leader in least hits per batch 3 out of 4 years.

Production Supervisor – 1992 to 1994

Responsible for managing the Filling department production and

30 union production workers across a three shift operation.

Increased gallons per hour fill rate by 32% and reduced scrap by

25%.

Process Engineer – 1994 to 1996

Implement new safety, production and quality processes; work

with production management and union workers on cost savings

implementation.

I was the team leader for the implementation of a One Million

dollar Inter Mix Blend system. I was also the lead engineer for the

facilities ISO 9000 certification.

Quality Control Manager – 1996 to 1998

Managed 10 quality control technicians across three shifts,

responsible for maintaining equipment calibration, maintaining

ISO Standard requirements and reducing product variation.

• In the two years I was QC Manager we reduced the hits per batch

ratio from an average of 5 to 1.5.

Production Manager – 1998 to 2000

Directly managed 9 production supervisors and responsible for

130 union production workers.

Responsible for all aspects of safety, production, quality

inventory and union / management contract compliance.

Valspar achieved records in total gallons produced in both

1998 and 1999.

Mill Operator

•1 Operated high speed dispersion mills for the production of paint

and chemical products from 1982 to 1984 – I was the warehouse

coordinator from 1985 to 1987 and then promoted to Quality

technician from 1988 to 1989.
