• Consultant for Lincoln Financial Group, Greensboro, NC. 2005 -
2013
• Programmer/Analyst
• Provided support for the LifeComm insurance package. System is a batch & online Assembler system
utilizing VSAM and the online portion uses CICS.
• Performing problem solving on the LifeComm insurance system. This would require doing some system
analysis, Cycle simulations or some online testing in order to determine if the problem was a procedural
one or if the problem required some system modifications.
• Lincoln Financial utilized Changeman to keep track of modifications and to elevate changes into
production and has changed from Changeman to Endevor.
• Worked on the project to eliminate using a VSAM Flex Agent Master to get agent data. This required
changing some 80 programs and writing 3 new programs. The changes involved accessing a DB2
database via calling some new programs that were written by the group now responsible for maintaining
agent data.
• I also worked on the Unclaimed Property Initiative (UPI). My portion was to provide death benefits as of
date of death as well as at some future valuation date.
• Environment – MVS, OS/390, VSAM & flat files, O/S JCL, Chaneman, Endevor, TSO and PROCS.
• Languages – Assembler, Cobol, Ezetrieve and CICS, using Expediter as a testing tool.
NORTH AMERICAN COMPANY FOR LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE, Chicago, IL.
1998 – 2003
Progammer/Analyst
• Provided support for the LifeComm insurance package. System is a batch & online Assembler system
utilizing VSAM and the online portion uses CICS.
• Performed maintenance and support mainly on the Underwriting and Issue section of LifeComm when I
was making enhancements to existing life insurance products. Quite a lot of these changes would require
either a partial or a whole Cycle simulation runs to verify that the changes were correct.
• I was also part of the team that was involved with adding several new life insurance products to
LifeComm. These were special Universal Life products. As a part of this team, I had to do more than just
do unit testing. I had to do online testing, co-ordinate with other team members as well as other teams,
learn how to use some specialized software (Illustration Software), write project specifications and
become familiar with what is involved in adding a new product to LifeComm.
• The online testing included adding new policies plus modifying these new policies to verify program
changes. Then the online results would be checked against the Illustration Software package results to
verify accuracy. The Illustration Software package results were always considered to be accurate. The
batch testing (simulated Cycle runs) included having the online modifications go through the batch
system and then verifying the batch results against the online results. When all results matched, the
changes were moved into the quality control area (called Model Office) for some Q/A testing. If needed,
file comparisons were also made.
• Environment – MVS, OS/390, VSAM & flat files, O/S JCL, Panvalet, TSO and PROCS.
• Languages – Assembler, Cobol and CICS, using Expediter as a testing tool.

• Upgraded online Assembler programs from CICS version 1.1 to version 3.0.
