manager. Responsibilities included:
• Developing product literature for Hologic’s breast imaging products, especially the Cenova™ (CAD or
computer-assisted detection) and SecurView® (mammography and tomosynthesis display) product lines.
Documents included user guides, quick reference guides, service manuals, service instructions, DICOM
conformance statements, and related labeling.
• Managing writers and graphics support personnel. Directed planning, scheduling, writing, editing,
graphics, document design, production, and translation activities. Developed in-house policies and
procedures covering all phases of document development, review, and release.
• Developing local implementation of the single-source Author-it content management system to manage
product labeling for the Santa Clara office.
Dade Behring, Inc. / Syva Company (< 1996), Palo Alto and San Jose, California. Dade Behring, which
acquired Syva Company (a division of Syntex Corporation), developed, manufactured, and marketed
medical-diagnostic instruments and reagent systems to hospitals and clinical laboratories. Dade Behring
has since been acquired by Siemens AG. Worked as technical writer, publications supervisor, and
manager. Responsibilities included:
• Developing instrument-product literature, especially operator’s and service manuals, instruction guides,
and labeling. Other materials included marketing literature, clinical reports, and training programs.
• Managing up to ten writers and additional graphics and production support personnel. Directed
planning, scheduling, writing, editing, graphics, document design, production, and translation activities.
• Project management, especially for user-interface design, evaluation, and documentation. Designed
user interfaces for the company’s two most successful clinical analyzers, the Syva ETS® and MicroTrak
XL Systems.
