Duties & reasponsibilities:
Work within management team to help make decision relating to the smooth running of the department
One of responsible in team for reviewing and improving current practises
Order supplies for Department of Teleradiotherapy
Use conventional simulators (Phillips SLS CT, Oldelft and Varian Acuity) and CT simulators (Phillips MX 8000 dual slice and Brilliance CT Big Bore Philips) to identify the areas to be treated and those to be avoided
Explain procedures to patients
Position and stabilise patients in preparation for treatment delivery
Monitor patient carefully during the treatment
Provide leadership and training to other staff members as required
Work flexibly within department operating treatment machines, associated equipment and computer verification systems to deliver the planned treatment accurately as required
Observe quality assurance procedures and record dosage and other relevant details on patients' record sheets
Advise patients about self-care procedures for radiation treatment side effects, or refer the patient for further assistance
Supervise and train students allocated from universities in the practical aspects of radiation therapy
Participate in patient and community education regarding radiation therapy.
Achievements:
Successfully improved treatment of breast cancer by introducing the breast board to the department
Written protocols for breasts, head and neck, prostate, lungs and anal cancers
Introducing Beekley skin markers for CT to the department
