Created a dental technology installation and support unit, the first authorized by Patterson Dental. A team of six

installers and techs were trained on several dental systems, including office and chair-side networking, digital

radiography, audio/video delivery, and automation integration, and to maintain HIPAA compliance. This business

unit was subsequently spun off as ArcNet, which continues to serve a growing list of dental businesses and dentist

clients.

VoIP planning, implementation, and transition; authorized and certified by Cisco, Nortel, and Mitel.

overall savings in hardware and support costs, with improved performance, high -availability, and various backup

Installed automated CNC system with robotic loading on multiple machines.

Designed and implemented laptop-based mobile salesforce automation system, using wireless and broadband

technologies, and VPN.

Designed and implemented an EDI system for AS/400-based applications.

Designed and implemented on-line web ordering system using IBM WebSphere and HTTP Server.

Charter Communications / Falcon Cable Director, Technology

Pasadena, CA

Managed Development and Technology department for this cable television company to create technology strategies,

ensure consistent implementations, and manage company-wide network projects. Responsibilities included

departmental budgets, staffing, and intra-company billing. Project management responsibilities included project

analysis, approvals, capital appropriations and expenditures, planning, implementation and delivery. Falcon Cable TV

was acquired by Charter Communications in 2000; Created and managed transition plan.

Developed network design strategy and implementation plans; migrated over 1000 corporate users in 120 offices to

MS Exchange; implemented firewalls; installed MS SNA Server to support IP-client access to mainframe services;

rebuilt network servers and infrastructure to support NT and NetWare coexistence; migrated to switched 100baseT

LANs; and standardized PC desktops, servers, operating systems, printers, routers, and applicati on software.

Designed and built a 120-node Frame Relay network to replace a multipoint SNA network for regional mainframe

access (for CSRs, data mining, and reporting), and implemented IP access to central site servers for security, e -

mail, Internet access, and thin-client connectivity. Cisco routers were used at all locations; all remote offices have

ISDN backup; central and mainframe sites are supported with redundant, load -balanced high-speed links across

routers in a fail-over.

Set up and managed Help Desk and Application Support services . Brought on-line a network operations center

(NOC) with 24x7 monitoring and trouble management.

Completed Y2K needs assessments and deployed replacements for over 750-user desktop PCs and 250 printers.

Designed and implemented private data networks and c able modem systems using under-utilized fiber optic cable

plants. Cisco and Marconi routers and switches were used to ensure high -availability, and highly secure networks.

Eaton (Aeroquip) Corporation Director, Development & Technology 1994 - 1996

Maumee, OH

Managed Development and Technology department and staff of 20 for this Fortune 200 company to create technology

strategies, ensure consistent implementations, and support company-wide IT initiatives. Responsible for departmental

budgets, projects/skill-set analysis, staffing, and intra-company billing. Responsible for project analysis, approvals,

capital appropriations and expenditures, planning, implementation, and delivery. Worked with IS managers from

Aeroquip and Vickers business units to create training and support requirements, including internal consulting, project

definition, and coordination of resources.

Major projects included:

Hardware and software selection, implementation, change control, and configuration management for

distributed systems: Aeroquip converted from IBM mainframe-based application systems to distributed

client/server systems, utilizing HP 9000 servers, HP-UX 9 and 10, Progress v6.3 and 7.3 databases and 4GL tools,

Sybase System 10 databases and tools, QAD MFG/PRO MRP software, and Sterling and ACTIS EDI software.

Initial systems deployment was to 25 global locations.

Distributed systems management tools: Implemented Computer Associates’ Unicenter on 25 UNIX servers for

policy-based management and control of worldwide network. Further integration included Windows NT and NetWare

servers, DEC VAX and Alpha servers, and Intel-based desktops.

Design and development of storefront POS system: Presently being rolled-out to 3000 locations in North

America, this system operates on a Windows NT server, runs a Progress -based distribution management/inventory

control software package, and incorporates video conferencing, video training, and a rules -based product

selector/configurator.

Conversion from NetWare to Windows NT servers, Windows 95: Developed strategic business partnerships and

beta-test agreements with Microsoft, Intel, AT&T, and Hewlett-Packard to convert from NetWare to Windows NT-
