Rose Medical Associate- CADC Substance Abuse Counselor-10-2013- Present/ Vicky Marino Supervisor Duties-My primary role of substance abuse counselors is the provision of counseling services. I am in a MAT clinic that utilize the Methadone as medical treatment to manage and provide alternative lifestyle. I provide both individual and group counseling sessions and also provide marriage counseling or family counseling as needed. Counseling sessions initially focus on stabilizing the client but then may delve into past traumas and the reasons the client took up drinking or drugs in the first place. Counseling sessions also provide ongoing support as clients work to maintain their sobriety. I introduce client to many community resources that can help in client new development and lifestyle to maintain recovery and management of addiction.

Dream Center Internship Practicum Spring-Summer 2012-Camp leader for Summer Program
(Internship with Dream Center Summer Camp program) I worked as a camp leader providing positive role modeling and advocacy of positive behavior and educational challenges for low income children ages 9 to 17. We monitored and assisted children on trips, recreational craft development at Peoria Library, monitored children during activities such as swimming, walks,museums, and park activities. We provided positive counseling (as needed) and corrected unwarrented behavior. We promoted positive and encouraging communication for the purpose of empowering children for future accomplishment in seeking dreams and goals, whilst advocating education at all times.
Pekin Federal Penitentiary-Jobs partnership Teacher: September 2011- August 2012Duties- Facilitate Life changing and employment skills to inmates who are transitioning back into the community. Implement basic coping skills, values, principles, employment and life skills are re enforced to these inmates for the purpose of resolving the different issues that cause recidivism, unemployment and poverty mentality. This process of transformation motivates and teaches men basic life principles. These objectives are based on biblical principles from an evidence based life skills approach. These men learn to be accountable, responsible, and aquire employment ethics and social family skills. These skills are to enable these men the opportunity to re-enter the communities and utilize the resources & education benefits within the community setting.
