Maintenance Supervisor, Y&S Candies (Hershey) Lancaster, PA 9/2010 – 3/2011
Maintenance Supervisor responsible for shift planning and supervision of 12 Maintenance Technicians responsible for
maintenance/troubleshooting/repair of all processing and packaging equipment.
Identified, located and coordinated training opportunity for both Maintenance and Operations personnel. Post training defects
were reduced by over 20% with the ZipPak packaging line.
Began the implementation of Confined Space Entry Procedures after OSHA changed the designation of the spaces. Identified
and Purchased the needed equipment.
Identified an opportunity to reduce packaging material scrap. Scrap reduction from the one line was rated at 70%. Replaced a
limit switch/cam with a precision rotary cam switch. Increased the repeatability of the low cello limit.

Tracked the progress of the summer shutdown and made recommendations for cost effective and reliable repairs to equipment.
Introduced the application of specialty epoxy coatings to reduce wear on dust cyclones. Annual savings of $30k.
Coordinated the repairs to a Rotary Dryer that had failed due to fire. Made modifications to the design of the internals to make
it more robust. Completed project approximately 1 week ahead of plan. Researched fire suppression systems and wireless
temperature sensors to reduce the potential for damage and give early warning to the possibility of fire.
Performed Cost and Reliability Analysis utilizing the equipment history to develop Maintenance Cost Reduction plans and
increase the Equipment Reliability.
Evaluated the Oil Analysis Program and rewrote the frequency of sampling to increase the opportunity for identifying potential
failures of critical equipment.
Wrote and implemented A and B critical equipment PM rounds. The rounds utilized both visual inspections and temperature

Replaced the rolling and hanger elements of an overhead conveyor 4 times faster than it had ever been done through planning

Family-Owned Steel Fabrication Company, Asked to come back and run the business. When I returned, there was $40k of work
on the books and no employees. Ran entire operation. Including: hiring of new fabricators, planning, scheduling, payroll, sales,
delivery. After doing a complete financial analysis of the company, the business market in Western Michigan, and family
finances the decision was made to liquidate the company. Coordinated the closing of outstanding contracts and finishing
remaining work. Liquidated the assets of the business which included bringing in the local museum and donating the records of
the company for their research of the local economy when the business was opened in the late 1800's.
Relief Mechanical Supervisor, Keystone Steel and Wire, Peoria, IL 10/1993 – 3/1996
Fill in Supervisor for area Supervisors during vacations and illness. Electric arc furnace shop, 6 strand caster, Yard Laborers,
Mason Shop, 2 strand rod and bar mill, Rigger/Welder/Machine/Pipe shops.
Recognized for completion of relining the dust collector tunnels 5 days ahead of schedule and well under budget. This allowed
us to utilize the personnel in other work to accomplish more during the shutdown.

Assist with the planning of the annual two week maintenance shut down.
Mechanical Turn Supervisor, LTV Steel, East Chicago, IN 11/1988 – 10/1993

Equipment included gear trains with input from 5 hp to 2500 hp. Low and High pressure hydraulics from 800 to 5000 psi. High
pressure water systems, Large scale lubrication systems, and Filtration systems of all types.
Coordinate with Production supervision to facilitate the breakdown repairs of equipment
Communicate between shifts to facilitate the maintenance process.
Supervised 10-15 daily. On downturn shifts could have as many as 50 direct reports and 100 indirect reports. Indirect reports
were outside contractors and Mill Shops personnel.
Merrick Engineering, Mechanical Designer, Nashville, TN 6/1986 – 11/1988
Mechanical Design of specialty automatic welding equipment.
Designed, built, tested and installed a series of welders to automatically weld jet engine fuel injector nozzles. Decreased scrap
by 15%.
Designed built, tested, and installed a welder that welded wheel hubs for lawn mowers. Scrap rate before utilizing our machine
was approximately 30% due to welding deformation. Decreased scrap to less than 1% and manpower requirements by 70% due
to fewer operators needed and higher output.
Responsible for drawing file control.
Worked with outside contractors for the machining and construction of sub-assemblies.
Interfaced with electrical design group to develop the control structure.
