Learning Resource and Development Center, University of Pittsburgh, a scholarly research
and development institute (9 years). Design for preparation in the common core standards for
reading and writing across ELA, Math, Science and History/Social Studies. Researching and
design of instructional modules and professional development with institute affiliates throughout
the United States.
• Facilitation of workshops with teachers to model content literacy and academic rigor
designed to enhance student engagement in units and lessons that promote critical
thinking and independent action through reading and writing with the common core
standards.
• Mentoring/coaching teachers, curriculum directors, and administrators in pedagogy and

Czech and Slovak Legion in Siberia 1917 to 1921. Documented and lectured on the
movement of Czech and Slovak Legion troops on the Trans-Siberian Railroad during
WWI and the Russian Revolution. October, 2012

contributing historian for the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa. Researching and preparing exhibit storyboards for WWI era photographs
and material culture. Presented lectures on exhibit topics.
• Iparmuveszeti Muzeum, Applied Arts Museum, Budapest, Hungary. Research
scholar leading groups of American museum curators to Hungarian and Transylvanian
homeland villages for curatorial collections. Focused on social organization and cultural
artifacts of Carpathian Mountain village economies.

funding drives for nationally known art museum.
