Elected Local Officials of the City of Alexandria and Arlington County.
The Mission of the Alexandria/Arlington Workforce Investment Board is to advance workforce development
programs and initiatives that achieve sustainable economic growth in the region.
The Board funds and monitors the region’s two Virginia Workforce Centers, Alexandria JobLink and
Arlington Employment Center, as well as many employment services and training programs for employers,
jobseekers, and youth. Its service region consists of Alexandria City and Arlington County.
The Board is responsible for administering annually more than $1 million of workforce services in the region.
These services include financial support for college tuition and vocational certifications, internships and
supportive services, such as subsidies for transportation, childcare, books and fees while in school, or
uniforms for employment.
