EXPERIENCE:
July 1990 to Present - M.I.S. Consultant
Owned and managed a systems consulting group specializing in the IBM
iSeries, AS/400, S/38 and AIX/L.
Responsibilities primarily around system administration and in house
applications development and augmentation for multiple clients over a
multi-year time frame. Performed system performance tuning, DASD
usage/performance analysis and system usage analysis, backup/recovery
planning, Operating System upgrades, PTF application, systems and
application and other systems tasks. Assisted clients with projects
and customization ranging from systems management, database designs
and implementations, to tracing system errors in databases and
database reporting.
Assisted in system migrations from iSeries to AIX/L and SQL
Server.
Worked on client system migrations, user requirements, software
acquisition, installation,
testing and customization.
Major clients included: association membership and subscriptions
system, insurance policy management, education providers,
municipality utility systems, government agencies, developing
marketing analysis software for a trade association's membership
directorate, import/export, insurance vendor's international database
management, and multiple Y2K conversions. Developed proposals for
clients needs ranging from internal software requirements to system
upgrades and outside resource requirements.
Aided in user requirement analysis for customization designs, coding
and business intelligence design gathering methods from the
database(s).
Converting the student internet and computer access for a 90 student
elementary school from Windows to LTSP on Linux.
December 1989 to July 1990 - Children's National Medical Center
Hired as Programming Manager to modify and develop hospital
information systems to augment Spectrum software. Responsible for a
staff of four programmers. Met with users to determine needs and
track progress and development of staff projects. Performed system
performance and throughput analysis. Trained operations staff on
system and job monitoring as well as doing job log and abend analysis.
June 1989 to December 1989 - Intelligent Electronics Corporation
Hired as Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer to develop subsystems to
augment J.D. Edwards software. Developed, monitored and changed
system configuration as required or needed. Responsible for subsystem
development design and implementation.
December 1987 to June 1989 - Dollinger Corporation
Hired as Data Processing Manager in a "shirt-sleeve" environment.
Responsible for communications support for remote operations
facilities. Redesigned subsystems for a user oriented system from a
totally DP dependent environment. Supervised MIS through company
relocation. Developed MAPICS augmentations, internal development,
design and subsystem implementation.
June 1985 to April 1987 - Repco Corporation
Hired as Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer to develop subsystems to
augment MAPICS. Developed, monitored and changed security as required
or needed. Installed MAPICS applications and updates. Responsible
for subsystem development design and implementation.
October 1983 to April 1985 - Sonitrol Corporation
Hired as Systems Analyst/Programmer to develop subsystems to augment
MAPICS. Converted S/34 subsystems to S/38. Developed
telecommunications for remote site usage. Developed, monitored and
changed security as required or needed. Installed MAPICS applications
and updates. Responsible for subsystem development design and
implementation.
April 1982 to October 1983 - Terrebonne County, Louisiana
Hired as Systems Analyst. Job responsibilities included development
and implementation of inventory, work order, capital assets and
contact management subsystems. Procedures included development of
systems; integration of users to systems; maintenance and
documentation of systems.
1979 to 1981 - Department of Entomology, Clemson University
Programmer/Analyst responsible with design, implementation,
modification and maintenance of programs and data used in the modeling
