Developed web applications, front-end and back-end soap and rest services in order to be consumed

by clients running in smart devices like Set Top Boxes, phones, tablets,etc.

Given that client's business is hardly oriented on Interactive TV, my main responsibilities ranged from

good objected oriented software design and documentation to test driven development, writing code

quickly with as few bugs as possible, knowing where to fix or improve something, understanding the

rationale for the current design and impacts of any change, focus on quality, continuous improvements

based on re-factoring/re-scaling with very high degree of attention to detail, while also being a team

player.

I was involved in the design and implementation of the following projects:

Recommendations system:

- highly efficient and scalable REST architecture running on the back-end, in order to relay user

preferences to the recomender learning processes.

- composed of a real time REST services module and an offline, batch processing based module,

consisting of Sql Server jobs running Integration Services packages related with data aggregation,

transformation and delivery.

- used technologies: C#, REST, unity, Sql Server, Integration Services, IIS

IRIS and Nagra Front-ends:

- names of the two main, highly promoted products of the client

- huge set of APIs interfacing with clients running on Set Top Boxes and/or smart devices

- direct interactions with almost all back-end components via REST and SOAP

- REST based implementation with AppFabric caching layer and sql/nosql persistance

- used technologies: C#, REST, unity, xml, json, AppFabric, MongoDB, Sql Server, IIS

VOD and EPG platforms:

- video on demand and electronic program data consumed by Set Top Boxes and other devices

- composed of web interfaces destined for back office users, and a set of importers and exporters

running on a scheduled bases in order to deliver data in the right format for the right platform

- used technologies: C#, REST, unity, mvc, silverlight, telerik, xml, json, AppFabric, MongoDB, Sql

Server, IIS

Back end:

- a set of SOAP and REST services, interfacing with the front-ends one side, and with caching and

persistence layers on the other side

- a few examples:search (lucene based indexing), user management, start over and likes

management, npvr (network personal video recorder, ie. user recordings managed in the cloud, as

opposed to in the device), authentication, authorization, auditing and accounting, social networks

integration etc.
