Professional Experience
Akson’s Solar equipment Pvt. Limited, India Sept 2010-May 2011
Product Design Engineer
• Trained directly under Wolfgang Scheffler for manufacturing the complex Scheffler parabolic reflector, used for such
applications as solar cooking and steam generation
• Designed solar water heating systems, indoor swimming pool heating systems for domestic and industrial customers based on
their requirements, and Scheffler reflector systems for solar kitchens and steam generation plants
• Designed a completely new type of hot water tank for evacuated tube collectors which allowed consumers to utilize hard or soft
water without damaging the collector tank, thus reducing cost of maintenance to user
Shelik Industries, India Jan 2008 –
June 2008
Manufacturing Engineer
• Utilized the CAD software UNIGRAPHICS(NX 3) to model dies and molds for auto-component manufacturer clients and
subsequently designed the codes for the CNC machines to manufacture the die-mold assembly
• Executed customized job orders on the lathe and drilling machines in the machine shop
Binghamton University, New York Fall ’11- Spring
’ 13
Teaching Assistant
Computer Aided Engineering: Conducted weekly labs, trained 20 students to use the software CREO and assisted them with
course projects
Mechanical Engineering Design: Studied various design proposals of students who sought my help by offering them innovative
design ideas and providing them with guidance on how to analyze problems they encountered and recommended alternative design
solutions to overcome those problems
Academic Projects
M asters Research (Opto-Mechanics and Physical Reliability lab, Binghamton University) Fall ’11-
Spring ’13
• Simulated creep failure in solder joints of TSOP and TSV electronic packages by developing a model in ANSYS, validating it
w ith experimental results from the lab, and subjecting the packages to thermal loads to calculate the life of the solder joints
• Designed a landing gear of a VTOL aircraft and performed FEA on the pins of the mechanism using PRO-E by taking into
account static as well as dynamic loading of the airplane
Senior Design Project Fall ’09-Spring ‘10
• Applied principles of DFMEA and designed a tool to make holes in the header pipe of a solar water heater collector such that
overhauling of the flat plate collector for repairs due to corrosion and pitting was minimized
Leadership Experience
Vice President, Indian Graduate Students Organization Fall ’12 – Spring
’ 13
• Organized the festivals celebrated in India on the university campus and coordinated the logistics of the event, and in the
process, ensured that the Indian culture was conveyed to the non-Indian faculty and students on campus
• Coordinated the arrival of more than 100 new Indian students admitted to the university by assigning them hosts and ensured a
smooth cultural transition for these students by mentoring them and helping them settle down
Graduate Student Panel, Watson School and Department of Mechanical Engineering Fall ’12 – Spring
’ 13
• One of two graduate students selected by the mechanical engineering faculty at Binghamton University to represent all graduate
students during interviews with candidates for tenure-track faculty positions
Software Capabilities
• Proficient in CREO 2.0/Pro-E Wildfire 3.0 and 4.0, ANSYS APDL; versed in Unigraphics, MATLAB, AUTOCAD
