Recent graduate interested in developing a career in petroleum geology with
experience in:
GEOTECHNICAL FIELD WORK, LOG INTERPRETATION, REPORT WRITING
Motivated young geologist with direct experience as both a field geotech in
central North Dakota and as a data manger for the Kansas Geological
Society. Focused coursework in Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, Exploration
Mapping and Petroleum Geology along with real-world field experience in the
geology discipline has made me eager to apply my knowledge and drive to an
entry level position in the oil and gas industry. Regarded by my peers and
supervisors as hardworking, adaptable and a quick study as demonstrated by
academic achievement and work experience:
Education
Bachelor of Science, Geology
Wichita State University, Wichita Kansas
December 2012
Relevant Experience and Employment

Present
Data Manager/Librarian - Kansas Geological Society, Wichita, KS Dec. 2012-
June 2013
Software - Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.),
Limited coursework in Visual Basic and C++ as well as exposure to Petra and
Geographics.
Log Analysis - Analyzed well records including logs, completion cards and
drill stem tests to determine detailed information such as porosity,
resistivity, formation pressure and produced fluids for advanced
stratigraphy and petroleum geology coursework.
Research and Data Management - Reviewed and processed detailed well
information from producers statewide for entry into Kansas Geological
Society records and digital library. Responsible for updating digital
library records as information became available and for making corrections
as necessary.
Field Work - Currently a geotech for a transmission line engineering
project across North Dakota. Responsible for taking detailed notes of
subsurface lithology as foundations are being drilled, then using these
notes to write formal stratigraphic reports which are submitted to
structural engineers for approval.
Additional Work Experience: While a student, I was employed for several
years by the United States Postal Service as a data conversion operator
and, later, by the United Parcel Service as a part-time package delivery
driver. The Postal Service required proficiency in computer systems and an
ability to learn proprietary software quickly. As a UPS driver, I was
responsible for company vehicles and a tremendous amount of merchandise
which had to be delivered quickly and efficiently with no direct
supervision. I believe this, and my most recent work experience,
demonstrates my dependability, work ethic and ability to learn and thrive
in a wide variety of disciplines.
