Group Health Cooperative is a member-governed, nonprofit health care system
that coordinates care and coverage. Founded in 1947 and based in Seattle,
Wash., Group Health and its subsidiary health carriers, Group Health
Options, Inc. and KPS Health Plans, serve more than 600,000 residents of
Washington and North Idaho. The main objective of ACCESS PPO project is to
create a new "G" (GH) network option for Benefit File packages. This
change is to enable Group Health Cooperative (GHC or GH) to offer a
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) product to cater to a very broad
network of physicians that gives its members a wider choice of preferred
providers and services than a managed care plan.
The Access PPO member/Groups and the associated benefits are identified
using the new Contract Type and service area. The Access PPO provider is
being identified based on the new contract type and the service area
network.

Account Product Service (APS) is a middle ware application. The purpose of
APS middleware is to process client requests according to their business
rules, ownership, and authorization, and to provide a single interface to
handle back-end communication with a wide and dynamic variety of databases
and systems.
APS will adjust to accommodate changing databases but it is not responsible
for interfacing with clients on the front end. Although APS owns the
schema, it is the client's responsibility to be schema-compliant. An APSQA
engineer's XML request simulates the actual request made by the client (as
opposed to any modification made by the middleware)
