Senior Mechanical Engineer

Technical Outline of the Position:

Design and development of the new products, improvements of the existing products and

engineering support to the production and QC departments.

Reviews and approves all mechanical design work performed by junior mechanical engineers

and technicians.

Respond to marketing queries, customer queries and review/approve related documents (design

change orders/drawings/procedures/user manuals).

Prepare, Conduct and Execute Advanced Courses, including Train a Trainer Courses in house

and at Customer’s site.

Primary or Major Responsibilities:

1. Responding to top manager, act as a team leader on projects to develop designs for products

relating to possible proprietary items, including the research and development of new product lines.

2. Perform rapid prototyping through conceptual work, performing necessary calculations.

3. Direct the preparation of drawings, procedures, BOMs, sketches, etc., necessary for the

development of new products.

4. Plan, direct and coordinate the construction of prototypes in house with the production department

or with subcontractor.

5. Establish test requirements and develop and direct the testing of new product prototypes to verify

product reliability.

6. Liaise with production to provide guidance and authority in manufacture and Repair and Overhaul

on mechanisms in accordance with the applicable procedures.

7. Develop production data package that include drawings, tooling, manufacturing and test data.

8. Coordinate on-time delivery for parts, materials and process with other departments or sub-

contractors.

9. Provide support during the preparation of technical proposals, investigations, estimates of

feasibility, costs, manning and schedule.

10. Mechanical authority for calibration/certification of all mechanical items to meet ISO 9001/2000

requirements.

11. Investigate mechanical failures of mechanisms. Investigation of materials, technologies related to

existing and new projects.

12. Create parts and assembly drawings using 3D parametric solid modeling software. Create CAD

files and implementing them in production. Design, modification and inspection of tooling, jigs and fixtures.

13. Ensure product designs are suitable for cost effective and continuous flow manufacturing

(assembly and tests should be capable of being performed with a minimum of operator dependency).

14. Prepare, Conduct and Execute Advanced Courses, including Train a Trainer Courses in house and

at Customer’s site

15. Recommend training/new equipment purchases to ensure technical staff maintain up-to-date skills.

16. Prepare and submit progress reports, monthly activity reports business plans as required in a timely

and accurate fashion.

17. Provides leadership and supervision necessary to stimulate and motivate people in a positive

fashion toward the successful achievement of their assigned responsibilities and objectives. Create
