Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the largest hospital in the Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS). CMC is

an 874-bed general medical and surgical teaching hospital and level-1 trauma center, with 32,109 annual

surgeries in 33 ORs.

Manager, Sterile Processing and Distribution

Responsible for daily operations sterile processing services, receiving and tracking of vendor

instrumentation, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization and distribution of all

surgical instrumentation and medical devices used in surgery. Compliance with regulatory agencies

regarding surgical instrumentation, employee safety, equipment, and environmental controls. Report to

Central Division AVP Surgical Services. Manage 36 FTEs to include education coordinator, operations

coordinators/supervisors, instrument techs I, II, III, and IV. Collaborate & strategize w/OR and Central

Division leadership teams to optimize efficiency & allocation of resources: staffing, equipment,

instrumentation resources.

Novant Health (Forsyth Medical Center) Winston Salem, NC 2003 – 2012

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center is a 681-bed, regional medical center that offers a full range of

medical and surgical, rehabilitative and behavioral health services. Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center

and Novant Health Medical Park Hospital performs 40,000 surgeries annually.

Education Coordinator, Sterile Processing

Responsible for SPD support operations. Provide immediate use sterilization needs for 16 ORs. SPD liaison

for support operations to OR, created work schedules, developed training materials and performed

competency assessments for SPD and OR staff. Compliance with regulatory agencies regarding surgical

Services. Competency assessments for SPD staff in Labor & Delivery, Hawthorne Surgery Center and SPD

Instructor, Sterile Processing Certification Course

Responsible for teaching IAHCSMM Central Sterile Processing program. The course consisted of 112 hours

classroom and 40 clinical hours. Upon completion of the course students were able to apply the principles of

sterilization/disinfection and distribution of instruments, supplies, equipment in the workplace.

Duke University Medical Center Durham, North Carolina 1979 – 1997

Duke University Medical Center (Duke Hospital) is the largest hospital in the Duke University Health

System (DUHS). Duke Hospital is an 813-bed general medical and surgical teaching hospital and level-1

trauma center with 37,322 annual surgeries.

Assistant Director, Sterile Processing

Responsiblities included daily operations sterile processing support services for 45 ORs, receiving and

tracking of vendor instrumentation, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization,

distribution of surgical instrumentation and medical devices used in surgery via case cart systems.

Compliance with regulatory agency standards and recommended practices regarding the care and handling of

surgical instrumentation, employee safety, equipment, and environmental controls. Participate in research

projects that relate to automated processing equipment. Reported to Director Materials Management /
