Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to you because I am submitting my resume for the opportunity to become
part of the team as a Scout with your organization. I found the job listing by searching online
through the Simply Hired website. Working in sports has been a lifelong passion of mine.
Unfortunately, I have had to put that passion on hold for several years while serving my country
in the United States Air Force. Although my dream was put on hold, I have begun my career in
the sports industry with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Lakewood Blueclaws and I believe I
have many great skills and great characteristics to offer Sport Contact USA.
High School and Collegiate sports have always a passion of mine. It has always
been a dream of mine to be one day be a scout for a professional team, but as of right now my
passion is helping kids playing high school athletics and teaching them the importance of
education. During my time in the military, I have learned valuable life skills that I believe will
help me excel with your organization. I learned leadership skills, professionalism to the highest
degree, responsibility and most importantly the value of teamwork. I believe my skills would
make me an asset as part of your organization. Now that I have completed my enlistment in the
U.S. Air Force, I am continuing my education to obtain a Master’s of Science in Sports
Management from Wilmington University. With the skills I have learned from my experiences,
my time in the military and my education, I believe I would make a great addition to your
organization.
I am very grateful for you taking the time to review my resume and I hope you consider
me for this position. If hired, I would give my utmost to make Sport Contact USA proud to have
me as part of the team. I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about this position. My
resume has been uploaded, per your instructions. I may be reached at the number above. Thank
you again for your consideration.
Respectfully yours,
Michael J. Purcell Jr.
