Research
Research Assistant, Department of Statistics Fall 2011 - Present
Experience
• Derive the asymptotic distribution of kernel distance measure, and further select optimal
kernels for the test of independence.
• Established the equivalence between Kernel Machine Regression (KMR) and Kernel Distance
Measure (KDC), and derive the general form of KDC with the effects of covaraints for high
dimensional data.
• Worked on the topic of genomewide association study (gWAS) using the ADNI data, explored
the genetic biomarkers for the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, used kernel distance measure to
investigate the associations between brain MRI data and SNP variants, and applied multiple
testing correction to detect SNPs genotypes.
Institute of Statistical Science, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan
Research Assistant July 2007 - July 2008
• Worked with Dr. Chen-Hsin Chen and Dr. Hsin-Chou Yang on the topic of SNP-SNP inter-
action with the association to Schizophrenia
Quest Diagnostics, New Jersey, USA
Working
Intern Summer 2011
Experience
• Worked with Dr. Garl Garber and Dr. Caixia Bi on the pre-analysis of the enhanced Quality
Control project: model the data collected from different labs, compare their distributions and
then characterize their features.
