visitors with the submission of J 1 visa applications and extensions. Setup and submit
appointment and merit files for Postdoctoral employees. Assist Postdoctoral appointees with
the submission of J 1 and H 1B applications and visa extensions. Independently set up
visiting Research and Project Scientist appointment files. Serve as CSE departmental expert
on J 1 and H 1B visas. Work closely with the International Center to problem shoot and
resolve any issues that arise during the visa application process. Consult with the Office of
Research Affairs regarding academic personnel policy issues that arise for Postdoctoral
Scholar and visiting Research and Project Scientist appointees. Coordinate with faculty and
fund managers regarding salary and funding issues for Postdoctoral Scholars. Independently
enter PPS entries appointments, extensions, index changes, separations and follow up as
appropriate with Postdoctoral Scholar and faculty. Draft policy exception letters on a variety
issues, include academic personnel issues, for the Chair's signature. Serve as timekeeper for
summer salary lecturers and faculty. Coordinate the set up and breakdown of administrative
services (room assignments, computer support, etc.) for visitors and Postdoctoral Scholar
appointees. Provide high level organizational, logistical, financial and administrative support
to CSE ladder rank faculty and staff. Serve as back up to the Chair's executive assistant and
APO Coordinator in their absence. Work on special projects as assigned, including event
planning, facility management projects, etc.
