RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: Acute hospital placement (31/10/2011- 09/12/2011)
On this placement, I managed a number of caseloads using the OT process to assess
clients’ level of function, plan, implement and evaluate client centred/evidence based
treatments for both groups and individuals. Through effective use of my observational
skills, I conducted non-standardised assessments, which include; home visit
assessments, kitchen, mobility and washing and dressing assessments. In addition, I
also carried out standardised assessments which include; the Hospital Anxiety and
Depression Scale, The Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool, The MOHO
Interest Checklist, Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination III and the Pool Activity Level
assessment. I also carried out risk assessments and managed risks. Interventions that
followed encompassed meeting the clients’ occupational needs in self care,
productivity and leisure, therefore maximizing their independence in participating in
meaningful everyday occupations. I facilitated, physical activity groups such as; the
falls prevention programs, and many other individual interventions. Furthermore, I
maintained evidenced based practice by ensuring that all my interventions and advice
given to clients were based on best current evidence. For example, there is evidence
to suggest that participating in falls prevention programmes has a positive effect on
physical and mental wellbeing (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence,
2013).

Service (21/01/2013-29/03/2013)
