Cost Reduction/Improvements:
• I nstallation of a 4th l ine in the department with no loss in
p roductivity.
• I ncreased case production in department from 36,000 cases
t o 61,000 cases over the course of 3+ years while reducing
case cost from 91 cents to 45 cents over the same period.
• Using the R4 case packer operator to cover any unexpected
staffing vacancies rather than covering with overtime. The
cost savings for one shift would be between $25K and $38K
per year based on 2-3 times per week.
• Using only three maintenance mechanics for weekend
p roduction instead of four. This allows not only for cost
savings but gives one of the mechanics the day off. Cost
savings for this was roughly $14K per year based on one man
a nd 20 weekends per year.
• I nstituting a stick measuring system for the perfume totes to
e nsure tote is empty before sending it back to the vendor.
Cost savings was roughly $125K per year.
• I nitiated filler tip tightening protocols for the start of each
shift to reduce/eliminate tips coming off and jamming in the
m achine stopping production. Cost savings would be a
m inimum of $10K per year.
