Boeing – Millville, New Jersey
CHINOOK STRUCTURAL MECHANIC, 2010 to 2012
Given the opportunity to take 60-hour course for the 47 Chinook modification project. Tasked with relocation
of Satellite Communication Systems. This included FIP Sensor modification. Installation of heat sensors and
heat blockers. Moved all antennas to accommodate satellite system. Fabricated templates to standardize
the way the new pieces were made, reducing hours on each aircraft. Mounted M4 rifles for pilot, co-pilot and
companionway. Difficult task was accomplished with ease, avoiding damage to sensitive cables. Installed 2
command seats. Work consisted of starting from the ground up, by removing floors and installing reinforced
bases. Removal and reinstall fuel tanks carefully due to extensive work due to possibility of fuel leaks,
contamination and combustible fuels, Replaced sliding rails for doors with improved versions.
• Effective use of templates reduced time necessary time required to fabricate new parts, saving
countless hours on each helicopter modification.
