Carrier Objective:
Seeking a professional employment for the position of Pipe Stress Engineer
with an organization in need of technical expertise, organizational and
management skills.
EDUCATION: B.S. in Civil Engineering, M.S. University, Baroda, India
Member of American Society of Mechanical
Engineers
COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Math CAD, CAESER-II, SMART
PLAN, PDMS
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Over 25 years of diversified professional work experience in engineering,
design and construction of projects related to Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil
and Gas, process and Power (fossil and nuclear fueled plants). Worked as a
pipe stress lead engineer on Giant Refinery project with duties involving
preparation of work schedules and estimating man hour and resolving
construction related issues. As a lead on the project, defined scope of
work and client specific requirements, prepared deliverable list, prepared
stress/support engineering specifications, identified critical piping
systems requiring special attention and computer stress analysis based on
pipe operating conditions, connected equipment, special project and client
requirements, delegated work activities for stress engineer, prepare bid
package and material requisitions and prepared close out reports.
Pipe Stress Analysis:
I performed pipe stress analysis to satisfy the requirements of the
applicable ANSI and ASME piping codes and other applicable codes and
standards by appropriate methods" 1) manual calculations, inspection and
comparisons based on engineering experience and industry practice for non-
critical piping systems; 2) Comprehensive computer analysis using CAESAR II
stress analysis computer program for critical piping systems. Analyses
included consideration of Static loads (weight of pipe, insulation,
contents, wind, PSV discharge force, blast, seismic, etc) thermal loads
(expansion and contraction) and transient/seismic loads (acceleration due
to earthquake, acceleration due to platform motion, differential motion,
wind, water hammer and relief valve thrust).I evaluated equipment nozzle
loads for sensitive equipments such as Pumps, compressors, turbines, air
coolers, exchangers, pressure vessels, etc based on applicable
API,NEMA,ANSI,WRC and other codes and standards. Alternate piping routing
was recommended as required to satisfy the nozzle allowable loads. I worked
closely with piping layout group early in the project to avoid costly
rework and construction delays.
Computer Programs used:
CAESER-II, ME-101, SIMFLEX, DYNAFLEX, AUTOPIPE, EPD-STRUDL,
SUPERPIPE, TPIPE, NUPIPE, WESTDYNE, PIPE STRESS (PEPS), TRIFLEX,
PISOL
Work style:
Team Player, Innovative, Pride in work and result oriented. Willing
to be involved and accept responsibility, Committed and Decisive,
Good Planner and Organizer. Flexible and committed to work at any
hours in order to meet the demands.
