As a member of the executive management team, I provided oversight for all aspects of Human Resources and

administrative management of the three program offices in El Monte, Glendale and Pacoima. Direct reports: Three

office managers and one HR assistant. I solved problems and created solutions in labor relations, employee relations,

performance & talent management, succession planning, benefits, compensation, policy development and

administration, recruitment (hiring committee), HRIS. I worked closely with payroll the CFO to maintain data integrity.

I updated IIPP to bring the organization into full compliance and aggressively managed the safety program to minimize

losses due to injuries. I drafted a disaster plan and undated a draft of the staff handbook. Provided leadership on staff

and management retreats, and safety committee. I audited I-9’s and personnel records initially and then annually. To

enhance management reporting and to increase staff access to HR benefits, forms and information, I implemented and

administered Paychex HRIS. I conducted internal investigations and reviewed discharges, conducted exit interviews,

and serves as hearing officer for all grievances and employee conflicts. These changes resulted in a significant

enhancement to the HR program during my watch.

I managed all operational aspects of Culver City and Santa Barbara campuses of the regional office of human resources

for staff and faculty. I reported to the CFO with a dotted line to the home office HR department in Ohio. I provided

services in employee relations, recruitment and staffing, benefits, compensation, safety programs, AAP, policy

development and administration, management and staff development, and change and conflict management. Strongly

support the CFO in maintaining spreadsheets using Excel for year-end projections for staff and faculty salaries, policy

administration and analysis. Administered contracts for faculty and staff. Budget development and cost center

management. Use of Datatel (HRIS), MS Office, managed a staff of two professionals. Worked closely with outside

counsel in settlement agreements.

Human Resources Consultant June 1999 to August 2005

I researched and provided accurate advice and service to clients (HR Managers and Directors) regarding technical

human resources problems and paradoxes within the scope of California and Federal wage and hour law. The outcome

was that clients could make informed decisions. I consulted with other consultants, the research librarian and direct

reference materials and promptly respond to clients with accurate information. Researched topics using BNA, Westlaw

and other databases. I drafted articles for publication in the EG newsletter. I presented seminars and webinars to paid

audiences on a wide variety of HR topics including “Wage and Salary Administration.” Clients considered me

competent and enjoyed working with me.

Senior Human Resources Consultant Temporary assignment October 1998 to December 31, 1998

I was involved in a host of employee relations projects and functions, and national relocation agreements. I worked

with the Affirmative Action Officer and an outside consultant in enhancing the AAP process. Planning and special

projects to meet corporate objectives. I was there during a company and while the HR Director was on a medical leave.

Computing experience included MS Word Office. I was there during a major acquisition and while the HR Director

was on a medical leave, and hoped for regular employment in HR thereafter.

I was fully engaged in recruiting, training and development, compensation, benefits, unemployment insurance, workers

compensation and safety, employee relations, policy design & administration, performance management, budget

development and cost center management, organizational development and planning. I transformed and managed total

human resources operations. Improved employee engagement. Managed conflicts. Designed two new organizational

structures to facilitate horizontal communication with management, and I redesigned new employee orientation

program. I created a staff and management training program. I updated the Human Resources Policy Manual. I reduce

liability by reclassified 65 positions from exempt to non-exempt status. Collaborated with insurance broker regarding

medical, dental and other benefits for staff and student plans. I managed wage and hour issues, leaves, workers

compensation, safety committee and compensation concerns. Worked closely with in-house counsel on a variety of

confidential matters. I managed a staff of three and trained my replacement. MAC Environment, Word Processing &

PowerPoint. These changes resulted in a significant enhancement to the HR program during my term of service.
