Advanced Acoustic Concepts LLC (AAC) - Lemont Furnace, PA 12/2002 to
07/2013
A technical leader in the fields of advanced sonar systems, training
systems, and knowledge management systems.
Director, Electro-Mechanical Systems (EMS)
EMS Domain Lead and Senior Systems Engineer for 6-15 personnel (EEs, MEs,
CEs, Technical Documentation personnel) reporting to the VP of Production
Systems. Managed the design, development, installation/implementation, and
upgrade of Army, Navy and Air Force production and spiral development-based
systems at AAC, government, university, and team member facilities.
Identified and resolved challenges related to funding, staffing and
scheduling, technology, power, cooling, security, and physical space.
. Established Electro-Mechanical Systems (Hardware) Team and introduced
equipment production as new company vertical.
. Developed first compute environment hardware suite consisting of over 100
rack-mount computer nodes and all power, HVAC, ruggedization, and
physical considerations to demonstrate fully integrated system capability
in the harsh Naval forward deployed shipboard environment.
. Negotiated, coordinated, and directed the Navy shipboard installation of
two initial R&D systems and subsequently 25 scaled production systems.
. Stood-up initial company Integration and Test Facility including all
physical, electrical, HVAC, security, and other usage requirements.
Instrumental in the subsequent design, construction, and implementation
of the company's first 40,000 square foot Production Facility.
Maintained and upgraded facility capabilities to handle the physical,
electrical, and mechanical requirements of new production and integration
projects.
. Participated in the teaming negotiations and proposal generation that
culminated in five-year, $100M+ premier US Navy Sonar Production and
Services contracts as a 50/50 revenue partner with largest provider of IT
services, systems integration, and training to the U.S. Government.
Supported the incumbent efforts that secured the contracts for two
additional "bridge" years and the follow-on eight-year Production and
Services contracts currently in operation.
. Marketed, negotiated, designed, fabricated, tested, installed, and
maintained a turn-key portable compute environment that solved Naval
Research and Development Platform scheduling problems saving program
funding and schedule. System included racks of computers, operator
stations, power distribution, HVAC, communication, and security and
safety equipments all ruggedized and housed in a shelter designed for
international transportation. One concept and two improved systems were
developed and have been deployed to all four corners of the continental
U.S. and at-sea on Naval support vessels.
. Provided technical project management and design efforts to various Army,
Navy, and Air Force production/R&D programs including: sonar, torpedo
defense, homeland security, tactical trainers, simulator/stimulators,
portable compute environments, and test sets.
