WORK EXPERIENCE
Postdoctoral Researcher
The Ohio State University - May 2011 to Present
CANPBD)
Two and a half years post-Ph.D experience in cell reprogramming, drug delivery and medical device
development. Prioritized multitasks while consistently meeting project deadlines. Contributed to proposal
writing. Built and maintained collaborations.
• Successfully generated induced neuron from embryonic and adult fibroblast cells with nonviral method,
achieving low tumorgenicity and mutation compared with traditional viral method.
• Developed a non-invasive detection method, tethered cationic lipoplex nanoparticles biochip, to
simultaneously captures and characterize tumor biomarkers such as circulating tumors cells and exosomes.
Significantly increased the sensitivity and decreased the cost of early cancer diagnosis and surveillance.
• Fabricated a multifunctional device by combining release chamber and cell microencapsulation for therapeutic
and pharmaceutics applications, such as treating diabetics and monitoring inflammation.
• Delivered periodic presentation of results and works in progress to advisor and coworkers.
• Supervised and trained five intern undergraduate students and guided two thesis writing.
Research Assistant
University of South Carolina - 2011 to 2011
2011 Graduate Student Research Excellence Award by University of South Carolina
Research Assistant
Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics - August 2003 to May 2006
Media and process development expertise, with hands-on experience using bench-top 4 liters bioreactor. Skills
used include analytical biochemistry, nutritional analysis and process debugging.
• Developed bio-carriers based on cell microencapsulation technology to culture endostatin ( anti-angiogenic
agent) secreting CHO cells
• Optimized cell culture process in 125ml Erlenmeyer flasks
• Scaled up to laboratory-scale bioreactor (bench-top, 4 liters)
