Research Experience

Synthesized D-boroAlanine and its analogues; characterized these molecules using GC-MS and NMR

(proton and carbon); developed a LC-MS/MS (MRM mode) assay and determined the in vivo biochemical

mechanism of D-boroAlanine in E.Coli and S.aereus.

Examined in vivo effects of quercetin on 17β-estradiol-induced breast cancer in rats, following the

ingestion of quercetin enriched diet. A LC-MS/MS method was developed to determine total quercetin

(parent quercetin and the quercetin after enzymatic hydrolysis with β-glucuronidase/sulfatase) in rat serum

samples.

Studied the effect of concentration of vancomycin on the growth of VRE (vancomycin resistant

enterococci) by analyzing the metabolites in vivo. A LC-MS/MS assay for marfey's derivatives of L-Ala,

D-Ala, D-Ala-D-Ala and D-Ala-D-Lac (Ala:Alanine, Lac:Lactate) was developed to quantitate the effect of

vancomycin on these metabolites.

Purified crocetin from saffron by preparative HPLC and characterized by LC-MS and NMR.

Synthesized cyclic GlyGlu analogues; characterized these molecules using LC-MS, GC-MS and NMR; A

LC-MS/MS method was developed to study the degradation kinetics of these analogues in rat serum.

Performed stress degradation (acid hydrolysis, base hydrolysis, various pH, oxidation, temperature and

photolytic) studies on tenofovir drug and identified the degradation products. Stability-indicating LC-MS

method was developed and validated as per ICH guidelines to analyze these stress degradation samples.
