Gannett Digital’s largest 2013 project which was a $5+ million core content infrastructure build
out project with team members in several geographically disbursed locations.
Technical Project Manager for Content Platforms (Contractor)
Led a difficult, time-sensitive project for Gannett. With minimal ramp-up time, oversaw racking
of servers and provisioning of hundreds of cloud VMs, coordinating activity by distributed matrix
teams. Having to address challenges with resource contention and competing priorities, especially
among SMEs and architecture. The project completed successfully and on-time, supporting
Gannett Digital’s largest initiative in 2013.
Selected Results
Coordinated the build of new infrastructure for non-production and production
environments into a new enterprise-wide content platform which consisted of over a mix
1500 virtual and physical servers and 20-plus applications/services.
Prepped over 100 properties; a mix of diversely located publishers, broadcasters, and
special sites in the Gannet portfolio, for integrat ion into the new enterprise-wide content
platform solution working closely with development, PMO, local site teams.
Assisted with paywall development and integration of the solution, working closely with
local developers and product owners.
Ran smaller software integrations under Agile methodologies and utilizing ITIL
practices for larger implementations through the corporate PMO .
Oversaw integration of user account management solution for all Gannett properties
having to work closely with our CDN partner Akamai to overcome sizing limitations.
Oversaw implementation of peer-to-peer SQL 2012 replication between datacenters.
Created the repeatable process to prep new publishing and broadcast properties for
launch on the new infrastructure that the team built.

Managed technical business strategy to revitalize a challenged company within an ever changing
industry. Worked with newly seated CEO and board to turn around the company.
Selected Results
Conducted team discovery of core needs which were used to select new core
environment technologies in which to build a travel management IT environment.
Coordinated with DBAs, developers, business analysts, and account representatives in

Completed back office migration of $150 million IBM mainframe core accounting

Tidewater Community College then successfully sat for and passed the six related

initiatives. Provided technical guidance to executive staff, board, and owner -members leading to
improved operational performance, and increased customer satisfaction.
Selected Results
Created and competed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act proposal for
regional and state government to create a $60 million ultra -high bandwidth regional area
network to interconnect economic development, educational, telemedicine, and research
sites around southeast Virginia, and received letters of support from local private and
public leaders which garnered an attempted bond initiative in Richmo nd to make a more
favorable proposal.
Assisted Virginia Department of Health by creating an auditable system for their
statewide continuing education EMSAT program.
Oversaw migration of local school divisions’ learning management systems (LMS) from
Blackboard to a centralized D2L instance within 6 weeks with only 2 months of
preparation which support ed approximately 20,000 students; allowed teachers to train
over the summer; migrated old Blackboard classes from the 18 local school districts’
Hampton Roads Virtual Learning Center; and simultaneously implemented the Virginia
Department of Education’s Virtual Virginia Advanced Placement High School.
Worked in conjunction with Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC)
and Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) on southeast Virginia’s
first responder infrastructure, Hampton Roads Tactical Regional Area Network
(HRTacRAN).
Worked with the Hampton Roads Planning District on regional-wide critical
infrastructure initiatives that could impact roughly 1.7 million citizens and a large
portion of US military capabilities.

Manager of Data Administration and Lead ERP/Accounting Database Administrator
Managed a team of ten DBAs and project teams of fifteen or more in support of internal and
external clients. Worked with executive members to meet business needs relat ed to data
resources shared across multiple enterprises. Junior member of team named as the department
head tasked with developing a multi-site call center and secured access to worldwide database

Led design and implementation of one the first active-active SQL server cluster database
solutions between CBN’s Virginia Beach, VA and Nashville, TN sites, making possible
the simultaneous operation of two i3 large predictive dialer call centers and development
of an integrated real-time reporting solution to track constituent activity.
Managed data administration of in-kind donation transactions in excess of $300 million,
international transport coordination, and warehouse facilities. Through process
upgrades, and implementation of remote connectivity for resource management,
additionally managed $500 million in annual transactions through ERP, HR, and
accounting systems.
Developed multiple solutions related to call center, web, CRM, and accounting
environments working with executives, legal, product owners, users, business analysts,
programmers, engineers, and other DBAs.
Met ambitious delivery goals for project development despit e the loss of senior
personnel in the early days of my tenure as department head. The ability to rebound
quickly and restructure resources built confidence with clients and internal stakeholders.
Managed the design, implementation, and testing of a $10MM remote disaster recovery
solution for sites’ data processes which allowed the client to keep operations running
during regional/site outages.

Developed and tested solutions under first phase documentation and evaluation for the
Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for
Level One through Level Three organizations.
As one of 10 technical experts chosen to develop strategy, work plans, and task
assignments for all Air Combat Command (ACC) bases, migrated nearly 100,000 users
to NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5 leading to full communication integration ability for ACC.
Led team recognized by the Air Intelligence Agency (AIA) as the "NUMBER ONE
Y2K program” for management of a $2.4 million project in support of the 480th
Intelligence Group's command, control, communications, computers, intelligence,
surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. The project was responsible for
preparing more than 50 large critical systems that resided on the Non-Secure Internet
Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network
