Experience:
•Especially selected to lead a small team of peers in results oriented research in conjunction with Sherry/Element Laboratories, the first direct research partnership between the University Chemistry department and an unaffiliated laboratory.
•Developed more time efficient, safer, and less costly methods of solutioning metal oxides for use in DCP/ICP analysis.
•Worked with the newly released Claisse M4 Fluxer, discovered and documented procedural and
experimental parameters for the successful solutioning of Ti, Ni, Cr, Zr, and Fe for Sherry/Element scientists.
•Formally presented research results to the Sherry/Element Laboratory executive board and board of senior chemists. Results were beyond expectations, resulting in Sherry/Element Laboratories agreeing to go further with the project.
Chemist well versed in Bio-analytical, analytical, and wet Chemistry techniques including:
•LC-MS, GC-MS, GC, HPLC, volumetric analysis, gravimetric analysis, titration, Polyacrylamide and Agarose electrophoresis among others
Experienced in the preparation, operation, and interpretation of a variety of chemical instrumentation and spectroscopic techniques including:
•FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, Flame AA/AE, Fluorescence, ICP, DCP, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and MS with a multitude of detectors.
Experienced in a variety of organic laboratory techniques including:
•Fractional, steam, and vacuum distillation, reflux, recrystallization, identification of unknown compounds, Refractometers, and multiple extraction techniques
Computer Experience:
•Navigate all Mac and Microsoft based operating systems
•Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
•Efficient in programs such as ChemDraw, Mathematica, and Chemspider
•Experienced in various advanced research programs such as SciFinder and Web of Science
•Able to learn new software quickly
Coursework
Completed, in addition to required courses, graduate-level inorganic chemistry (4 hours), advanced organic laboratory techniques (2 hours), instrumental analysis (3 hours), and gained 4 additional Chemistry credit hours for independent research in conjunction with Sherry/Element Laboratories.
