CAREER HISTORY

2012 – Present Technical Support Coordinator, Nexen K1A Kinosis SAGD, Calgary/Fort McMurray, AB

Participate in the management of the mechanical installation from civil to commissioning/startup, and

contribute to the planning and coordination of civil, electrical and instrumentation scopes of work for

new construction of a $1.5B SAGD plant (800 workers at peak).

• Started at Fluor’s Calgary head office during the pre planning phase, working with engineers to

develop project specifications and scope of work for mechanical installations, reviewing

mechanical drawings and advising on constructability issues.

• Developed estimates, budgets, schedules, construction work packages and scorecards.

Turnaround Planner & Construction Coordinator (Small Projects), Nexen Long

2010 –2012

Lake, AB

Worked in a team to plan, schedule and coordinate a $50M turnaround at Nexen’s Long Lake SAGD

Plant, plus maintenance programs and many small capital projects. The 2011 turnaround was completed

on schedule, on budget & with no lost time incidents.

• Planned and scheduled mechanical scope of work for a major plant turnaround and many small

projects, including an upgrader shutdown, piping/vessel/exchanger/pump replacements and hot

taps, as well as scheduling ongoing preventative maintenance.

• Communicated with engineers, contractors, fabricators and project execution teams, including

multi trade crews (millwrights, welders, ironworkers, pipefitters, electricians, instrument

mechanics) to coordinate activities, to solve problems and to ensure projects were completed to

standards and in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.

• Provided estimates, material take offs and construction work packages, using SAP.

• Procured, tracked and received materials, and created Bills of Materials.

• Developed job procedures, conducted hazard assessments, promoted safe work practices and

provided approved lock out forms prior to mechanical work.

• Designed and implemented execution tracking systems, including cost time risk analysis, to

minimize costs by ensuring early detection of any deviations.

Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor/Planner, Catalyst Paper, Elk Falls & Port Alberni,

2004 – 2010

Supervised mechanical scope of work for monthly and annual plant turnarounds at the Port Alberni and

Elk Falls pulp & paper mills. Completed all projects safely (no LTA’s) & on schedule, and finished 25%

under budget on maintenance costs 4 years in a row. Results included increased production, improved

equipment reliability & less downtime.

• Planned, scheduled and coordinated mechanical turnarounds, maintenance and capital projects,

including process piping installations, hydraulic pump/motor rebuilds and maintenance to

overhead crane, conveyor systems and other mechanical equipment.

• Created construction work packages, and ensured parts were ordered/received on time.

• Supervised multi trade crews (up to 100 personnel), with responsibility for hiring, training,

performance management, timesheet approvals, safety leadership and QA/QC documents.

• Communicated with staff, contractors, turnaround and small projects execution teams.

• Monitored progress, tracked/managed costs and schedule, and helped to solve problems.

• Developed and implemented safe work practices as a member of the Safety Committee.

• Retrained supervisors on SAP and streamlined the entire maintenance process, resulting in

increased efficiency and user friendliness, as well as less downtime in both mills.

Managed up to 120 personnel in planning and executing mechanical upgrades at pulp mills across

B.C. This included piping, civil, electrical and structural work for the installation of pumps,

piping, conveyors, tanks, vessels, drums, boilers, paper machines & instrumentation.
