Personal statement

I’m a proven experienced reliable person with NVQ3 in Early Years and Education and

an excellent Early Years background; my child care experience started when I worked as

a registered Child Minder and Sponsor child minder for Gateshead MBC, then I worked

for 5yrs as a Nursery Nurse in the RVI hospital at Kindervision Day care which provided

child care for staff and also for children who were in long stay hospital and required

some normality and respite from the hospital environment. I then worked 2yrs in Felling

Children Centre as a Community Nursery Nurse facilitating play groups and play

activities for Parents and children following EYFS and ECM framework, I also carried

out activities within the home setting for children who needed individual learning plans.

Following this role I was promoted to Parent Outreach Worker which involved working

w ith local schools, Health visitors and Social Services supporting Parents/Carers and

t heir families who were in the referral system, I also successfully completed various

child care and parenting t raining and courses such as Tr iple P Parent Craft and

becoming a Young Parent to Be Tutor. Unfortunately due to funding cuts to children’s

centres by the local Authority I was made redundant. I’m now working in the RVI

hospital as a Nursery Nurse on Post Natal ward 33 and Special Care Baby Unit ward 35

w here I support the Midwifes in the care of vulnerable babies, in my role I assist

mothers with breast feeding, take blood samples and give tube feeds to premature

babies.

I ’m capable of working under pressure to meet targets and deadlines, able to work

equally well alone as well as a team member, I take pride in own work and I’m able to

work without supervision, able to demonstrate good communication skills and work well

u nder pressure, I’m hardworking and take pride in excellent t ime keeping with a

responsible atti tude to work, I enjoy learning new tasks and can mix well with people at

a ll levels, I’m a confident energetic individual with drive, motivation and determination,

i n my past supervision’s it has been noted by my manager that I have a genuine interest

i n the needs of others and present myself as friendly and outgoing and able to build

effective relationships with children and their Parents/Carers.
