Finance department of the company is responsible for its risk management and
for its risk reduction. During my postgraduate studies I learnt that all businesses face a
tradeoff between their risk and their expected return, also I learnt that all businesses
face risks in their operations. Furthermore I was taught many modeling strategies that
companies use in order to identify the risk that they face like CAPM. In addition I was
taught many strategies and financial instruments that many companies use in order to
reduce their risk exposure. For this reason I would like to see what I have learnt in
practice. Moreover we are living in an uncertain environment due to the expansion of
financial crisis; therefore the importance of finance department is growing in our
days. All investors and companies are trying to minimize the risk that they face and
this department is responsible for minimizing the company's risk exposure. For this
reason its importance is growing in our days and I am looking forward to working in
this important department.
During my internship at the National Bank of Greece I learnt how to work as
part of a team, while also improving my time management and problem solving skills
since I was asked to deliver many demanding projects with pressuring deadlines.
Furthermore part of my duties involved direct and constant contact with several
clients of the bank resulting to a substantial improvement of my communication
skills. Additionally during my work there I became familiar and worked on many
banking systems that required from me a lot of attention. Lastly during my
postgraduate studies I enhanced my analytical and organizational skills since I was
required to submit many demanding courseworks and also I became more adaptable
and communicative in order to build constructive relationships with the other
international students.
