WORK EXPERIENCE:
September 2011-May 2012: Employer Mentoring Scheme
I volunteered for this scheme to gain experience of graduate employment. I
was paired up with the Chief Constable of Huntingdonshire police who helped
me develop personal skills, business awareness and guided me in preparation
for graduate employment.
May-October 2010: The Taproom, 23 Bridge Street, St.Ives, PE27 5EH
I worked during the summer in a busy popular bar/restaurant as part of the
bar staff and waitressing team.
May-July 2008: Wheatfields Junior School, Nene Way, St Ives, PE27 3WF
I volunteered to help support young children at a local primary school who
were transitioning to St Ivo secondary school in September and needed extra
help and support from older students. Prior to the children beginning their
school day a team of fellow students I worked with, along with the help of
the staff at the school, assisted the children in putting together a small
school drama production which the parents were invited to watch. The aim of
the scheme was to help the children gain more confidence with their
transition into a potentially scary environment and provide them with a
network of support should they ever need it during their first few years at
secondary school.
November 2006-August 2007: Anglia Regional Co-Operative, Constable Road, St
Ives, PE27 6ER
My shifts were split between working on the checkouts and on the shop
floor.
July 2006: St Ives Police Station, Broad Lees, St Ives, PE27 5QB
During this time I completed two weeks work experience involving a lot of
office based work such as filing, dealing with paper work, photocopying and
making phone calls as well as assisting members of the police force on
allocated tasks. I was also given the responsibility of researching Anti
Social Behaviour Disorders within the local community and then reporting
back to the team of officers in Huntingdon.
January-March 2005: The Cromwell Veterinary Group, Constable Road, St Ives,
Cambridgeshire PE27 3ER
I worked voluntarily at the veterinary clinic for three months as part of
the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. This involved assisting the
staff with any tasks in the clinic such as cleaning, office work and
helping out with the animals.
